Why did Ford ever go from a wheel like that, to the horrible cruise version or the rubber dildo 87-89 wheel that feels terrible.

That wheel is still better than the air bag wheel

If I had an airbag wheel, I could swap in a nice SN95 wheel, like an FR500 wheel

Anyone who has that wheel care to measure the diameter? Same as 87-89 wheel?

My '88 wheel is 14.5" or 370mm in diameter.

Old BBK white face gauges. Not even made anymore, probably because they light up poorly at night....even with LED bulbs. One of my regret that I did as a teenager. I did pick up a spare 87-89 cluster (with 85mph speedo) to go back to stock gauges. Just need to match up the odometer, and actually decide to do it. Since I never drive the car at night, it hasn't really bothered me much

Have you been pretty happy with your steering wheel wrap?

Definitely a must have mod back in the day. I remember wanting them too, but now I have no idea why, other than that's what all the cool kids were doing.

Yup. I like it. I'd do it over again if I had to. It's from wheelskins.com. The key is to take the wheel off and get it VERY tight by going around a few times. I did this 5-6 years ago, and it's held up quite well...granted that's maybe 600-700 miles of driving since then.

I put a Super Coupe wheel in my 85. It's much better looking and feeling than the stock GT wheel, the cruise buttons work like the should, and it sticks out further. That to me was a good point. It made the wheel, pedal, shifter ergo a little nicer for me. I am 6' and felt like if I had the seat far enough back for legs to be comfortable and the reach to the shifter good, I had to 'reach' for the wheel. Now it is much better. The only problems with the SC wheel is it is clocked differently for some reason. When I put it on it was turned to about 2 o'clock. I had plenty of threads on the tie rods so I just realigned it. It's not ideal and if I ever get it up and going again, I am getting a MM shaft to reclock it with the tie rods even. There's pics on FEP of it...there was another guy who did it and I got the idea from him.

I got mine on ebay for $50 about 2 years ago...non air bag.

I dunno, maybe it will grow on me, but i'm not in love with it.

As soon as I get the motivation, I have an 89 column, a momo monte carlo wheel and a ford horn button (I had to pay up for the button, the guy with 17 of them on ebay wasn't around when I bought it, only 1 left)

Part of me feels as if I am going to pay $100+ for a mint one, I'd be better off investing that into a MoMo vs a 30 year old Ford wheel.

I was looking at the Monte Carl

Edit: F it....I bought the Monte Carlo wheel and Ford button.

You won't be disappointed, I often take it out of the box to admire it. My wife bought it on sale as a gift when it was 25% off at lmr.
If I didn't have to change the column it would be done already.

Here's a tip, make an lmr wishlist and give everyone access to it...
