And damn i couldn't be happier! I'm the kind of person that gets bored with my car pretty easily, especially the sound of it since it's pretty easy to change it. I'm always trading exhaust with friends and seeing what i like the best.

Some of you might remember me talking about cutting up Flowmasters to make one chambers out of 2 chambers....well i've ran those for a while but the problem is that you only have one option....dumps. Or, to be more precise, not even dumps, more like a single chamber with a straight out outlet. Well, i've always wanted to hear these mufflers with exhaust so i scored some MAC 2.5 tailpipes with 3'' tips and did some work on the mufflers so they can run an outlet, and the results are nothing less than amazing IMO.

The sound of the car is something i've never heard from another catback. At idle, it's got a deep rumble but it's subdued enough not to shake the whole car and be obnoxious. Then, the more throttle you give it, the NASTIER and LOUDER it gets clear up to redline where it's pure screaming hell. At a 2500 RPM cruise on the highway (with 4.10 gears) there's NO drone, and i mean none. You can hear the exhaust just enough to know your car is still running...that's it. I can hear the Tremec gears whining and the wind outside more than the exhaust (as long as you're just cruising and not excellerating or going up a hill or something).

Basically....my point to this is...don't EVER settle for what the aftermarket has for sale if it's not what you want. The other day i swapped on some Race Bullets because everyone seems to love them.....but they just weren't for me. I like the classic sound of Flowmasters, but wanted something rippier and raspier, so by a stroke of luck one day we had this pair of 2 chambers laying around and decided to see what would happen if we just cut'em in half. So...that's where i am now.

I've got a video of it that's optimizing on streetfire but probably won't be ready for an hour or more and it's late and i'm going to sleep, so i'll post the clip tomorrow and maybe some pics of the tailpipes. Some people don't like the 3'' (i think these are more like 3.5'') but really, they look fantastic. So....stay tuned.

i know exactally what you mean bout the 1 chambers...i did the same thing, but i cut just the chamber off and welded the last 3/4" of muffler back on so i could run tails then never ran them. it sounds so wicked. a little more hollow rumbly at idle, quieter when cruising, but WAY WAY louder when WOT. so awesome. i wish i hadnt taken them off so i could have gotten a vid.

Locally, they were part of a catback for an SN95 so we really had to play around to get them to work, especially with these mufflers. The biggest problem is that your typical muffler has an offset outlet to the sides, but the outlet on these is in the middle now and that really made it tough. Honestly it's a bit of a hack job, and i did the welding and i'm pretty new at welding so it was a lot of practice for me, but it's good enough to hold and not leak or hurt flow any. I might take them off today to put some high temp paint on the welds to keep then from rusting, if i do i'll take pictures of the mufflers so they make more sense.

The tailpipes...man i love'em. I know some people are going to jump in and say they're too big right off the bat, but my car has always had this "empty" look about it in the back even when i had 2.5 tail pipes. This really evens out the back of the car wth the big valance on the front. Also since they're for an SN95 they stick out past the bumper a little further than they would if they were for a Fox, which i think is pretty sweet looking.

I'll just have to get it cleaned up today and get more pics :D

Oh, i'm fairly sure you can buy the tailpipes separately from MAC....i couldn't find them online anywhere for some reason but i remember when i bought my old MAC catback from the local speed shop, the guy had a catalog and they had 3'' tailpipes listed in there. I wanna say they were around $150-$200 to buy them separately but i'm not sure.
