So yeahhh. . .

On a budget, just get a stock rebuild AODE and put a shift kit, or good valve body in it. If you don't have one already, get a cooler. My rebuild cost about what the AODE from stangparts does. I would check around and see what is that most convenient and attainable.

If possible, I would get a fully built up AODE. If not, a fresh stocker with a shift kit/ valve body and a cooler should be able serve very well for a good long while.

Maybe a rebuild kit is the way to go.
My dad is buying it (I'm a poor college kid ;)) but Kyle and I have to do the work and I'm not sure how much he is willing to spend yet.

yes its a 3 speed lol but who needs more than that :nice: ....converting to 5spd should be that hard...ive never done it in a Stang though....the T56 would be a very sweet upgrade...you will obviously get the 6th gear...and the ability to handle much more power (any power you can throw at it if you go Viper spec)

Hrm... the F-Body transmissons are the same as the Viper spec with some diff shifter linkage parts. I BELIEVE the LT1 and LS1 input shafts on the T56 are the same. Would a F-Body T56 and a D&D bellhousing work????? Does the 03 Cobra T56 use hydraulics for the clutch instead of a cable like the T45?

Also... on the subject of an AODE rebuild... would the AOD kit work??? I THINK the only difference is the valve body... It seems like the 3-4 clutch pack is shot in the transmission from the way it is acting and the look and smell of the fluid. And is there an AOD(E) rebuild guide out there?????

i personally wouldnt dare do an aode by myself. definately something you need some good training on or a good instructor right with you. i personally did the t-5 swap for under a grand after my tranny decided to give way for the second time. it wasnt that hard and parts were semi easy to come by. took about 2-3 days (with putting in engine at the same time too) and ive loved my car so much more ever since. that would be my route as i did the same but go ahead with the auto. it will cost a pretty penny to get it built up pretty well along with a good stall convert and whatnot. just look into both options :)

yeah...again, i say stock t-5 cause you dont have too much power going through that car yet. you could easily go under a grand for a swap but i decided to get a good shifter, clutch and rebuilt the hell outta my tranny :)

My car decided to blow its transmission today.

Anyone know they best place to get a new transmission or rebuilt mine?

Any ideas I what I should go with too?

:bang: :bang: :bang:

how many miles did it have, before the transmission started to show signs of problems?

and how many miles did it have, when it wouln't work again?

I think she got it with around 80k on the clock... and it acted weird (to me at least) from that time.

101k.

Not sure what route we are going to go yet... but AODE rebuild kits from TCI go for about $270 on Summit... dont know the price on the Motorcraft rebuild kit. Im trying to get a new converter in there while we are down there. ;)
