Damn, since I have gotten mine I have been reading a lot about them.

Guess what, for many people the engine, she go kaboom :notnice:

For others the diff cover shatters or the half shafts break...

From what I have read its bad to do burnouts because the diff cover will shatter and the half shafts will snap from the wonderful wheel hop. Sure, the wheel hop can be eliminated through the expensive and time consuming "red pill" method.

Another great thing is sustained high speed runs at WOT in overdrive. At max boost in overdrive with the car at speeds of over 130 the pistons will seize to the cylinder walls in a MATTER OF SECONDS resulting in catastrophic engine damage. Thanks Ford for the .001 PTW clearance :notnice:

So, if you want to get a Terminator think carefully because they are not really suited to burnouts or high speed runs in stock form. And what good is a Mustang that cannot do either

nost terminators that are driven like they are very rarely stock...nothing against you about the stock thing but i think the ones who stay stock drive it more conservative.

but I am thinking about getting one and this is good info:nice: ...because mine will be somewhat stock for a while but I rarely beat on my car now or do burnouts with it.

wow that sucks just read those threads good links:nice:

but i guess i really dont think ill be doing top end runs at all...did like 125 once in my 97 and said enough with that.

I would have thought that the small walls would have been figured out in testing i mean wouldnt you think that they would test the motor wide open for an extended period of time and figured that one out? i mean cmon.:nonono:

The 01 was at 80k... It was time to unload it for various reasons.

on this why would you keep a gt over getting a terminator...if you know him they are both gonna stay stock (and very clean) its not like these things blow up everyday it just sounds like if you beat them at high rpms for a while they will fail...no duh...i believe almost every car will

They are bad ass cars, and they are built tough.

People just think they are indestructable and beat the living piss out of them, modded or not.

The burnout thing is kind of a letdown, but this is the first time ive heard of that problem.

The WOT in 6th thing isnt suprising though. Thats alot of load on the engine, and no one should be going WOT in OD anyway. Dont they top out in 5th gear?

Like I said, its a matter of people thinking they cannot blow up. Forged internals are great, but when you start modding you still have a weak point in the engine, just like all engines do.

kt i think your over analizing it. i mean if you were gonna mod it and drive it like you stole it then maybe be worried. but since you plan on keeping it stock... just drive it and enjoy

I hear you, the list of "very bad things to not ever do" just keeps getting longer and longer though. I feel like I need a post it on the steering wheel to remind me of all the things to be avoided while driving it.

Probably just paranoia on my part... :D

Neither issue I'll ever face.

Good points, although there are several issues with the 03/04 Cobra's new owners should read up on. But, doesn't it always fall back to 'how' you drive and treat the vehicle?
Once you get that list ..... email it to other owners.:D I always prefer to learn at someone's expense. There some things I don't want to be 'first'.

+1

Yeah man, your car will be fine .... But I do know that anyone who buys a Mustang has burnouts and donuts in their blood. :D

Should have bought a Shelby. :D

Realy though you don't have to worry about something like this happening unless you beat the piss out of your car all the time, which you don't. Hell my friend has one and races and beats on his all the time doing runs upto 135-140 and his is still running strong. If I were you and you want to have alittle fun with it just build the IRS up. I know a guy that works at Dimension and will do it after hours for you for a good price. If your intrested just pm me and Ill give you his number.

I've never done a burnout in my GT ever, and i've only been over 130MPH once and that was for a few seconds in 4th gear.

Other than a few 2nd and 3rd gear WOT runs, i don't drive my car too hard...and if I had a cobra i'd prob just do the same.
