Sold the stang

Confession: I sold the stang this weekend. It was the right move... my passion for it had completely wained. I had saved up a bunch of money for body work and a new paint job (3.5K) and when it came time to spend it, I realized that there were other things I wanted more.

I was super picky with who I sold it to as well. I had 13 people call, I showed it 5 times and turned down 2 offers. 1 came down with his friend in a "pimped" out Honda and they were arguing about the mustang beating it. He asked me if he could take it out on the highway "with his buddy following to check for leaks." Riiigghhhtttt. I said fine if I drove it.

The other guy was coming in with ridiculous low offers so I told him the car was no longer for sale.

It ended up going to a father / son project. They both came down, took it out for a nice ride, and were pretty excited about it. I don't want to get into money details, but I will say that it I didn't have a problem getting more then the Kelly Blue Book value in "excellent" condition. I was sad to see it go, but happy that it went to someplace where it would be well cared for.

I'll still be around to argue throttle bodies and rear gears...

I know what you mean about losing interest. If I could get anywhere near what I put into mine, I'd probably sell it. Good luck with whatever you find to fill it's place.

yep im soooo sick of my 93 i have really debated selling it but what i have invested and the market here i cant even get a small fraction of it ...and i wont just give the car away...so im screwed lol

we all move on, our interests change, and we develop different priorities. do you have a new passion?

i had lost interest in mine and was this close to getting rid of it too. i was at the point where i didn't even feel like getting in it because of all the annoying problems, big and little.

i decided it was either get rid of it and buy a new gt vert, or fix everything that is wrong with this one and keep it. it came down to which option cost less. i figured i could make this one great for alot less than the $30K a new one would cost, so ...

after everything is done, i plan on just having fun driving it and stop obsessing over what my next mod will be or trying to make it a little faster. it is time for me to enjoy this thing and stop getting all worked up about it.

so what are you driving now, a yugo?

Yeah, I do have a new passion. I've been competitively shooting sporting clays for the last year or so, and am good enough where I think I can start to shoot for money. Part of the money from the mustang sale went to a Beretta shotgun.

I still have my 2001 F150... so you can see that it wasn't the price of gas! Aside from the mustang, I am a big time outdoorsman so I found myself driving the stang less and less on the weekends whereas I could throw my canoe, tackle, dog(s), friends, all in the truck with room to spare. I owned the car for 4 years and only put 13K on the ticker.

Getting tired of mine too, for the last couple of months it has been idling like crap, it bucks when you are just cruising around and is starting to wear me out I am thinking about selling it and buying a Harley.

I just made the decision to upgrade mine. There's no selling it now. It'll be in the family til it's wrecked, or a rust bucket.

you guys are killing me.. .I am looking to trade my bike for a 90-95 mustang plus cash.. and here you are talking about getting rid of them...

Just shows how everyone changes I guess... 3yrs ago all I wanted was motorcycles...

You should probably just keep the bike and not get bit by the mustang bug. Bikes are way cheaper and more reliable. Oh, and better on gas.

Sometimes I wish I didn't love mustangs, but i do and will probably always own one.

gas prices are making me want to sell mine n pick up a gsr teg or something... possibly another probe... but who is gonna buy a car with almost 220k on it... i figure i might as well finish it...

Well I can't get the wife to ok me hauling my 3-1/2 yr old and our soon to be new born on the bike...

cheaper is a relative term... modding a bike can get very expensive as well.. Especially if its not a Japanese bike..

Better on gas no argument there... even pushing it.. my bike gets around 35~40mpg...

I still love to ride, and I even enjoy looking at it.. But it does not fit my life right now.. A mustang while not exactly the most economical choice is a decent compromise.. It will just be a toy anyways.. 4runner is the daily..

The only way I'd get rid of mine is if I could fanagle a 94-95 Cobra. Or a Terminator. Or a Mach 1/Bullitt. Or a 65-66 Fastback. Or a 69 Mach 1

I'm pretty sure I'll still be driving mine if gas is $5.00 a gallon.

I sold mine yesterday . Now, for the first time in many years, I do not own a Mustang. I still like Mustangs, but I needed to take a break and try something else for a bit. I'm not real enthusiastic right now about where Ford is currently taking the Mustang, but I have high hopes for the future.

I my be forced to park mine or part with it in 2 yrs.

My rug rat will be getting a learners permitt in 12days, while she has just the basic permit she can drive any car I own as long as I'm present in the passenger seat and be covered without cost to me on my insurance, however once she gets a G2 (we have a graduated licence system in place) she'll require insurance coverage, and as we own 3 cars she has to be principle driver on one (can you say oh my friggin god) the rates being charged some kids to drive holy crap! I honestly doubt I'll be able to afford to run 3 cars. I pay a little over 3g's a year for insurance for all 3 cars, I've been warned it'll double and then some when she comes on as a principle driver.

I agree 100 percent. In a few years, you're going to see an awful lot of Chevy's and Dodges, with over 400 NA HP, knocking down 30+mpg. What does Ford offer? Nothing close. AND STOP ADDING WEIGHT TO THE EFFING CARS! In 5 years at this rate we'll have mustangs that outweigh my F150.

Lame.
