1992 LX with LS swap ,ignition from MSD box off of crank sensor, with its own power supply,using ignition key to start,fender start soleniod replaced, good ground, new starterwith good ground,engine has good ground,new ignition slide switch,trouble is trigger wire to fender soleniod has no power or low power causing fender soleniod to chatter and starterturn engine over slow or not at all,car was and is an auto trans car,does the trigger wire get its power directly from ignition slide switch ,any thoughts please,thanks

Use a voltmeter to see if that wire & post gets 12v when your assistant turns the key to start. This is an easy place to “start” eliminating problems.

If the LS has the typical solenoid on starter like a GM, the mini starter wiring diagram and instructions posted frequently here will apply.

Your symptoms sound more like a low/bad battery or bad main cables, connections on the positive or ground side.

How big of an LS did you use? Got pics of the swapped engine bay?

thanks for the reply , cables are not new ,but looked good ,will install new ones, voltage varied at trigger wire from 12.4v down to near 2v changed each time we checked. its a 5.7 LS1 stock short,heads ,cam ,intake,800 Demon carb,700 R4 trans,about 400 hp ,380 torque at wheel,will try to figure out how to post pics of engine and calypso green coupe thanks again

Before you replace cables, please charge your battery and have the parts store load test it. You can charge and test the battery voltages right at the battery terminals, but 2v under load and the solenoid symptoms point to a bad cell or discharged battery, or corroded, cauliflower like growths on the terminals.

Also, there are voltage drop tests for cables and their connection (use search or someone can repost) before you drop money on unneeded parts. Now if the cables are ugly and you will feel better with new cables, that’s another deal.

thanks for the reply installed new battery cables ,new block ground,new battery,almost there ,just a slight hesitation then starter turns normal,only thing
left would be the cables from fender soleniod to starter

Hi back again working on this coupe again leaving the start problem for the next issue this is a 99 vintage LS1 using a MSD 6LS PN6010 box have always fouled plugs quickly partly because of a lack of air flow which the new Stormin Norman hood should take care of the plugs are gapped .40 and show a very weak spark wondering if a weak spark could be the cause of the plug fouling more so than the air this car has sat for 10 years since the build wires are stock and I dont remember them ever being changed coils are stock and original
