ok iv been having problems with first i rebuilt my engine and then my tranny went... after i fixed it i had a surging idle i checked out the check list and it ended up being the new TPS i got new dosnt mean good... after i fixed that the surging idle went away then after that it started to run rich and pop alot and always at 3000 RPM it would feel like i was going from driving a mustang to a honda civic or soemthing.... checked air filter and new tps and ignition system and they where all good my teacher said that he did not like the how the holly adjustable fuel pressure regulator was acting we had it set at 45 psi witout VAC and with vac it should have droped to 35 and durring WOT it should go up to 45 it didnt after i did a few more tests witht eh scan tool it would barly stay running cant really explaine what it was... so today i went out to mess around with it i took off the vac line ( it was rainging outside a little) and i went to take the vac line off the regulator and the car barly stayed running so i went to put it on and i noticed fluid around the vacumme plug on the top of the regulator.. i was liek oh man i cant get water in the vac lines so i wiped it off and noticed it was gas so i also had a broken NEW regulator it was letting gas out of the vacumme spout of the regulator... with the stock reg on it pulls in liek every gear ALOT more and dosnt bog down in high RPM and or anywhere inbetween... it still isnt 100% but it is a heell of alot better! i hope this helps someone!

If you found the Surging Idle Checklist helpful, the Cranks OK but no start checklist for Fuel Injected Mustangs will also be helpful as well. See item 4 F on the list to find the same condition you described.

I will definitely add your input to the Surging Idle Checklist . Thanks for the update.

If I'm reading your post correctly, you had a problem w/ the Holley regulator and replaced it with the stocker. I had trouble maintaining a setting w/ mine (I kept having to turn in the screw more each time to get it back to the setting I wanted, and eventually bottomed it out) and finally took it off and threw it in the trash. That regulator is tempting to use, because it has good clearance to the EGR valve, but it's just a piece of crap. I've had an Aeromotive regulator and a 1/2" spacer under my upper plenum to clear the EGR since then and haven't regretted it once.
