Aircraft brand paint remover works great on metal, not sure if it would be safe on those plastic door cups though, might be worth a shot though if your planning on ordering new ones anyway

I sold the cobra cause of money. I got tired of having a 26k car that only gets driven 7 months a year, and its only losing value. Not to mention the money in insurance im saving now. Plus im looking to buy an investment property soon so not having all that money tied up in a car helps.

Throwing a turbo kit on it would have been great. But adding another 6-7K to an already expensive car isnt something i could bring myself to do. Plus id be pushing the stock shortblock and built ones arent cheap.

You need to sand the surface before you spray paint.....I would sand it down with 600, spray a grey primer, then sand it with 600 until the surface is uniform, then spray it with whatever color.

Also #0000 steel wool works great. Just make sure you clean the surface free of steel wool before you respray.

It is a lot of work. I had the welding/grinding done and bondo started in a weekend, so that's not really too bad. I then spent 3 full weekends(like 50-60 hours total) doing the bondo work before I got it the way I wanted it. If you're good with welding/bondo work you could easily cut that time in half.

Troy - Im not a big fan of the 3 spd auto's. Id rather stick with a manual for now.

I've seen some cars with just the holes filled in instead of new panels and that doesn't look too bad. Im sure that would be easier than new panels too. Just an idea....

I suck with bondo work, which is why it took me so long. I'd apply some bondo, sand for hours, go too far, have to re-bondo, have one small place thats messed up, fix that and mess up another place, repeat several times. LOL, fun stuff.

Low-5.0.... Your bay is SUPER clean, so incredibly organized!!! How can you cut down on all the wires/hoses running around? Did you hide them all? or is there a way to do without them? Im very interested in doing the same, but have no idea where to start.....

Thanks. Im not running any smog equipment or A/C so I removed all the vacuum lines for that stuff that I didn't need. All the wires are still there, they're just hidden in the fenders. Do a search on here and you should be able to find out everything you need to get started.

OOhh ok.. Well Im from california, and not sure what the smog requirements are in Ohio, so Im guessing you have to put the smog equipment back on in order for it to pass smog for registration?? Or is it not required there?

We don't have to do the smog check here, hence the 418 with 90% "race only" parts
