check your middle A/C vents and see if you have the ability to open and close them- there should be a little slide thing on the outer sides of the vents. i coulda swore i used to be able to and then i got that plastic piece replaced byford and i cant. maybe im just thinking wrong? 02 GTVert.

Yes, you should be able to open and close them. A buddy of mine had the same thing happen to him, so he took it back to ford and had them put the right piece on.

I can close mine - I didn't check but I am almost 100% positive I can because the G/F is always cold and I am hot so I close them and just let the hot air blow on her.

I used to own a 2000 GT that I got rid of that used to have one middle vent who's vertical fins couldn't move sideways. I brought my car to a Brazilian detail place and they broke the vertical movement capability of the fins on one of the middle A/C vents. Since then, I NEVER let any Brazilians detail or even touch any of my Mustangs. They don't know how to properly detail cars without damaging them.

I read the newer mustangs (03 or 04) don't have the cut off levers for the center vents, I guess Ford put one of these newer assemblies on your car.

That's interesting. I didn't know that the 03 and 04 Mustangs didn't have the cutoff vent levers. Why don't they have the cutoff levers? Were they defective that Ford didn't want to put them into the Mustang anymore? I am curious to find this out. I really think that the cutoff levers are cool. What did Ford replace them with on the 03 and 04 Mustangs?

yeh i knew i was right. i dont know if its worth the trouble (and risk) of giving it back to ford to put the other one in- but i will call them and tell them the screwed up.

i know that feeling. my old 96 let me turn the middle vents on and off but my 02 doesnt...i miss the ability to do that
