OK, This is a plug wire problem. You spent $1000 bucks on parts instead of taking to a professional. This reminds me aof a "shotgun mechanic". They fire a shot load of parts at a problem hopeing one will fix it. Like I said in my very first post minutes ago, I am an ASE master. Your first clue....and mine, wasthat you never mentioned a check engine light. This means it isa secondary problem...meaning after the computer comtrols. You mentioned everything in the book except plug wires.

This will make you feeel like a dumb ass, but I am not trying to. Wait until dust/dark. Get the engine hot and missing. Drive into the dark place and pop the hood. Get a windex bottle with water, and spray it on the wires, and watch the light show. A quick fix is once you findthe break/breaks in the wire/wires, to wrap in electrical tape until you can replace the WIRE. A new set of wires...depending on the car these days can cost a fortune (try a Ford Probe GT, then breath a sigh of relief you have a Mustang). Replacing only the effected wires will save a small fortune.

I watched your video. That is a plug wire, that is why you have no engine light. Run that way lng enough and the light will come on! Good Luck, and enjoy the light show!

WOW are you retarted?? I spent $50 on plug wires and thats it...where the hell you come up with $1000?? I checked the plug wires first, but there were no cracks in it, and no sparks at night which i did TWICE. They were just too loose on the plugs which is why it was very sporadic. Before you reply to this thread acting like a cocky *******, read everyones posts first....if you had done so, you woulda seen that i figured out the problem already. Im not a ****in dumbass, ive been working on cars since i was 8, and this just happened to be a finiky situation. My buddy who's also ASE certified was at my house 3 or 4 times trying to figure out the problem, and he couldn't either. SO don't some on here tellin me im retarted.....go buy a chevy...:nonono:

I gotta agree you dont need an ASE certification in order to fix a car. i will be getting some in the next few weeks though:rolleyes: . And no offense but not all ASE certified techs are the smartest, I know one person and he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, I've rebuilt my motor and many others from scratch and I mean everything boring, honing, cut crank10/10, recondtioned rods, new cam bearings, etc. Am I a pro at it hell no but Im proud I can say i rebuilt the motor myself and have rebuilt trans's and rear ends and done many other electrical things and such yet only being 18 years old too and I dont have any patches or anything. Just because someone has a patch doesnt mean ur no better than the other guy without a patch.

check the grounds on the o2 sensor wiring? i think i saw someone on corral with a similar problem and this was a solution.

mine just started a similar problem yesterday and threw CEL so i'll check em tomorrow and keep ya up to date if i come up with any ideas

YOUR BUDDY WORKS AT AUTOZONE... i work at advance auto he should have a computer there just to hook it up and check codes should take like 45 sec to do myabe it might tell you which cylynder is messed up else it might let you know if its fuel or spark.... good luck

goin to get a reman. dizzy today at autozone...see it thats the problem....if not my buddy works there and he can return it if necessary:D

Good idea.Sometimes those TFI modules and the pickup inside the distributor can act up.The car starts and runs, but may miss at a certain rpm.
Frustrating to diagnose without the proper equipment also.

lemme rephrase that....he used to work at autozone, but basically still goes in and uses the computers and stuff there himself, and knows the manager, so he can return stuff i may or may not have been able to return...

yup, got a reman one, popped it in, bumped the timing a lil bit, and it runs like a charm!!! and it took about 20 minutes........if only my dad would've listened to me a month ago when i bought a new stator for the dizzy (which was the problem) and he told me to return it......:nonono:

Haha...yes,I figured replacing the distributor would be a good idea that looks like it paid off.:nice:.

Time to stick it to the old man:lol:(for the ensuing grief caused).Isn`t this the same guy who built a road burning 502 insane RWHP 60`s Chevelle?:nonono:

Maybe the old man just can`t grasp the computer age:D.

drinky time:D.

EXACTLY....last night he was gettin mad cause i wanted to just run out and get the dizzy and put it in, but he wanted me to work on my paper instead.....hes like "its gonna take hours to do, and i dont wnana do it in the cold"...so i just told him i'd do it myself, and if i couldnt, id get a ride to school in the morn.....took me 20 minutes with a friend to mark everything up, take out the old dizzy, swap parts over, install the new one, and set the timing....he felt bad that he disagreed with me and openly admitted that he doesnt know **** about the ignition in an efi car.....oh well, just a stupid arguement....

yea hes the one with the beast chevelle....he just got a tubbed 71 nova roller which is GORGEOUS...swapping the 502 and th400 into that, and putting a 350 and muncie in the chevelle along with the rest of the street suspension:nice:
