Something else I want to buy....

OK here is a pic of what my back tires look like....I want to get some tires for it that are nice looking (treadware) and hook to the bone (ie. nittos or g-force). I was wondering what is the widest tire I can get on a 5 star chrome rims. My car is lowered though ( dont know how much) but does anyone know where I can get a good deal on 2 tires to fit 16 inch 5 star ponies, but I want as wide as possible...thanks guys....Anthony

There I got the pics to work

lots of guys are running 255's without problems. It probably won't corner as nice as a 245, but if you are looking for straight line traction, the 255 should be a little better.

imo, unless the tire that you specifically want (like a Mickey ET Street Drag Radial) is only available at 255, get the 245. the extra 10mm won't make that much of a difference on the same compound tire.

Im runnin 275 Mickey Ts on a set of 10 holes, so it CAN be done, but only to go to the track and back, nothin more. I run 255s on my ponys and LOVE em, look good and hook decent on the street

I used to run 265/50s on 10 holes so i wouldn't think a 255/50 would be too crazy on a Pony wheel. I've got 245/40 (maybe 45, i'll have to check) on mine and they look good but they're a bit too low profile, i think a 255/50 would be better.

I run 255 BFG's on my 16" chrome ponys and the car will hook extremely well for stock suspension (minus kyb struts and shocks, NO SFC's) and I am a 10:1 306 with a 100 shot currently (going to a 150 when the wideband is hooked and a-ok.)

With 22lbs on the back tires, unheated, with the combo in my sig with 22* of timing the car will BARELY turn over the bfg's on a powershift 1-2.
