So my car all of a sudden starts running very rich. rich as in you can smell gas.

Runs fine. I thought I saw smoke, but I haven't noticed any except this morning on start up....that was more like cold air/condensation, but I am worried.

But....oil pressure is fine, no smoke under boost or on deceleration.

Any ideas? Fouled plugs maybe? My dipstick smells a little like gas....which is not good. It's a sign of worn or collapsed rings isn't it? I hope not.

Is this notmal for force fed cars? Could it be the cooler air causing it to run richer due to the tune?

umm, could be a FRPS. I know one of the symptoms of that is the strong smell of fuel in the oil. But if it's runnig fine, that may not be the case. Also, if an O2 sensor goes bad it can cause the A/F to go WAAAAY fat.

Chalk it up to the cold weather. I know the temperatures have really dropped nationwide. My car always smells like it's running rich when the weather is cold outside, more so than in the summer when it's warm.

no smoke on startup today and she smell is more normal. But the temps are up and it is very humid. I will keep an eye on it and see what happens.

I felt the oil and it's not watery at all and it doesn't drip off the stick. Maybe I am paranoid.

Thanks guys.

There's some good threads about meth injection as far as the 03/04 Cobra's are concerned over on ModularFords.com. The vast majority of the people who have tried the meth injection on our cars weren't happy with the results.

Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor. They are notorious for failing on the 03/04 Cobra's.

An FRPS? They didn't know what you were talking about??? Morons.

Ford P/N 3R3Z-9F972-AA Approximately $40 from Ford, not sure if NAPA can get you one or not.

Included a picture for those who don't know what we're talkin' 'bout.
