Well, after owning and selling a 90 nothcback, 92 droptop, and a 2001 gt, I have once again joined the brotherhood by purchasing a 93 lx droptop. I'm pretty damn happy about it too. However...I have run into my first problem. I smell gas . It is slow to start after sitting for sometime and I smell raw fuel at idle. I'm thinking its the injectors leaking but I havent quite found anything just yet. Acceleration remains pretty good for a bone stock mustang but gas mileage is a touch down from my other stangs. Maybe 230 - 250 per tank. What do you guys think?

Check the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. Pull the vacuum line off and see if it's sucking fuel into the line. Some of the aftermarket regulators were famous for this.

Put a FP gauge on it, turn the car to on (do not start) verify that it hits 38 lbs and holds it for 30 secs or so...if it drops like a rock (or feather) then you have a leak.

Thanks, is 38lbs the standard for stock and will it spike due to the fp prime at key on? should this test be done @ idle also?

Thanks!

Well guys thanks for the help. Looks like I'll be buying a new fuel pump. I checked the regulator and all checks out fine. No obvious leaks and no fuel in the vacuum lines. I put my fp gauge on her and turned the key to the on position only to watch it spike to 10lbs and drop back down to 0 within 2 seconds. I can start the car and it holds a steady 34lbs at idle. Sounds like a check valve on the pump to me. Now the question is what fuel pump do I put in it? This thing is 100% stock right now. I havent even had a chance to remove the air silencer. I do see heads, headers, and a cam in the near future. Any suggestions for the fuel pump?

Thanks!

190 lph...with a AFPR you can dial her in for good gas milage and still make power...check my sig as to see what mods I have and what I am supporting on a 190 (add a TFS/GT40 intake to the list as I now it will still support it)
