I've read lots of conflicting information, but I'm sorta convinced that with a good tune, and restricting boost to no more than 6lbs I should be fine running 93 octane. This should net me an easy 500 RWHP. Anyone out there doing anything like this?
 
its all in the tune but i would go anywhere over 500. id stay to around low 400ish at the wheels to keep it safe. or else there goes the block and possible the whole bottom end getting destroyed if it lets lose.

wait look at your sig you dont appear to have the stock block. well in that case i think you will be fine running it that way.

edit: 10.5:1 is high compression ratio to throw boost at. id more so vote for nitrous with that compression.

no stock block for me... block is rated by DSS for 600 HP.....

10:5:1 is high... but I prefer boosting over nitrous at this point.... worse case I could run 105 octane.... or a mix of 105 and 93..... and then I'd be fine... hopefully

But I am curious if anyone here is running boost and high compression.....
 
while it's true that your compression isn't blower freindly it is doable, like strtrcr50 stated a meth kit would be the way to go and a good tune. with a 50/50 mix of water and methanol you would have the equivalent of 105-110 octane fuel, so you would hove no issues with detonation. also if you sprayed it before your supercharger not only would you lower your discharge temps you would pick up a few psi of boost.
 
DSS uses stock Ford production blocks in their short blocks. You have the same block that came in your car originally. I'd keep it to 500-550 horsepower and under 6000 RPM. If I were you I'd have a custom cam ground to bleed off some of the compression, or consider having the heads milled. If you have money for a blower you have money to do it the right way. :nice:

Milling the heads makes the combustion chamber smaller and raises the CR.

+1 and many people run blowers on high comp engines even though it's not "ideal". meth injection is the way to go with this set up. give snow a call they will give you tons of help.

:doh: I don't know why I typed "milled." I meant ported, or change pistons. I had a long night last night. Thanks for correcting my idiotic comment.
 
well I think you posted another thread on this and repliued to that one too. I'AM running an engine with a compression ratio around 10:1 which I originally planned to run with spray. I however changed my mind and bought a 1220SL.

YES YOU CAN run a blower. I have 42's, Pro-M shorty mass air, anderson powerpipe, CMR chip with custom tune. Car runs great. Ran a 11.54 @121 mph last weekend and it has more in it with some more suspension upgrades.
 
Oh and I'm seeing 7lbs of boost. I highly doubt you'll see 500 ponies however. My 2 cents.

I'm pushing nearly 400 at the wheels now... you dont think I'd pick up 100-115 hp with 6lbs of boost?

Have you had yours dyno'd? What kinda numbers you putting down?


To everyone who responded, Thanks for your input and suggestions... I'm going to explore getting a custom cam made up with the boost in mind. I'm also going to look at a meth kit and start looking at speed shops around here to see who can give me a good tune when its all set up. I'm looking at purchasing and installing this kit around the end of this year. I'm also in the process of assembling my cobra brake swap parts so I've got a lot going on. :nice:

I'm curious about having a water mist hit the blades while turning 50k+ rpms.. I know it will work that way, as that is how the Mr Freeze kit works, just haven't read any reports on whether it is a good idea or not for blower longetivity.
