I remember seeing this on one of those Shows on spike TV.

It's sort of like dynamat except it was a shiny silver. You apply it like tape under your carpet to the metal boards and it insulates against sound and rattles.

i want to buy some of this so i can lay it all over the place the next time i pull my carpet and interior trim panels. I don't care about adding 20 pounds if it will help get rid of typical squeals, rattles and bumps associated with a 20 year old car.

The Dynamat Xtreme series has the shiny silver over it, and serves as an insulation as well as a sound deadening material.

I think that's the stuff i saw.

I wonder how much i would need to do my interior under the carpet and behind all the plastic panels???

I pulled up dynamats page and they have some spray on liner now. But its 330 bucks for a little over 2 1/2 gallons. Here is the link.

i had some shiny silver stuff in my old car. it was like dynamat except a bit cheaper. i think it was called bread-stick or bread-stuff or something like that cuz it came in a tube kinda like pilsbury bread i'm guessing???? I needed it because i had a stupid-ass stereo (4x12" subs, 10 interior speakers, and 4x6.5" speakers in the rear window,all running off of 4 big amps) that would literally shake parts off my car. yes, i was young and stupid. it didn't really help either. and it's VERY heavy. i only lined my trunk and i'd bet i put well over 50 lbs of that stuff in there. not worth it imho. and even though it was cheaper than dynamat, it still cost me nearly $200 for just the trunk....

I just recently installed some fatmat from fatmat.com. It's cheaper than dynamat and it works just as well. It's a lot cheaper too!!! Just be forewarned, that nice shiny aluminized material, along with the blue ink for their logo (it's all over the material) turns your hands a nice, shiny, silvery blue! I purchased 100sq ft and it was more than enough to do my hatchback!

i tested fatmat out once. they sent me a free sample. it was pretty good stuff

I don't mind the cost of the dynamat stuff. I just want something that would be effective.

I'm also not all that concerned too much with weight. I don't want to add 100 pounds, but i'm not making a drag car here. I just want to make the car a nice weekend car.

I used "E-Dead" from elemental design (may not still be around), sounds just like what you described. I prolly added 25-30 pounds doing my entire car, floor, hatch and doors.

This guy tested all kinds of stuff and his website is very informative. People now donate free material to him to test effectiveness


After reading it I decided to use Second Skin Audio.

If you chose to go with SSA then call the number on the site. You'll get Anthony (the owner) and he is usually pretty good at giving discounts when asked about them (20% in my case).
