sound question

got a quick question. i have 2 10 inch subs in my car with a 6oo watt kenwood amp with a pioneer cd player. it sounds good, but my question is when i open the car door (just one) the bass gets like twice as loud. anybody have an answer for this, or hear tell of anything like this. i want that bass to be in the car with the doors shut.

Umm yeah when you have 2 10" subs and 600watts pushing it. Its gonna tend to be heard outside the car. Isnt that the point?

You're experiencing what is called signal cancellation - I'm betting (*very strongly*) that your sub box is against the back seat.

As an experiment, slide your sub box to the extreme rear of the vehicle, firing rearward (speaker cone pointed directly at the back of the car, as close to the back of the car as possible).

Now crank it up, then open your door - I'll bet that your difference in bass goes away.

Point is that you have to experiment with the positioning of your sub box. Search for "car bass cancellation subwoofer" using any search engine, and you'll probably find detailed explanations, with diagrams.

*btw* it could also be that your subs are wired out of phase - but I'm making the assumption that you have decent bass response...thus this not being the case.

thanks grodgers. i,ll give that a try. i have the subs at about in the middle of the trunk. and its pretty well centered. i,ll try that and i,ll post back with the results.
