If mine is to blow out(and I'm sure it will as I've been having bad luck with all my cars lately...:nonono: ), I'll get either patriet Stg2 or other aftermarket head...

Plug blow out is good enough reason as any to replace it with better parts no?

all those heads have the same design flaw, all the aftermarket heads are based off of ford cores and all the ford heads have this problem.

sure head replacement is the best way to repair it, but it's worth it to give the timesert a shot.. what do you have to loose at this point.

Patriot stage 2 heads take care of this problem.:nice:
I was definately thinking about heads and cams :D

This is the reason I just bought a torque wrench. Hopefully you got lucky and the threads are intact.
Yeah, I picked one up. My friend had one when we did the plugs 3 years ago which is why this is so bizarre

Dang I havnt seen you on here in what over a year? Anyways, the plug may have backed WAY out and then just blew out maybe 1 thread...try and screw it back in, it may go. Besides, it wont hurt anything if they are screwed up...
haha, I posted in the 05 forum a couple times between now and then ;)

You HAVE TO GET the newly re-designed plugs from motorcraft. Model number AGSF-32C. They have a larger shoulder where they meet the heads preventing spark plug back-out. Autolite also makes the same plug but with a different model number.
hmm... interesting, i'll try to track those down...thanks

He wants to raid your wallet..

You can not trust shops or mechanics.. I am one myself and I have seen every type of stealing you can imagine.

I also read your other thread and from what you described there you have that spark plug knocking away for a little while so I highly doubt you will be able to get a plug to stay in there even if you can get it to go back in.

The new style rethread kits work just fine.

If you don't believe me about how shops can mislead you read this thread

I absolutely hate getting work done on my car by a 3rd party. Sadly I'm not equipped or skilled enough to do major work (i did all the bolt on mods on my car except clutch install). Speaking of which, I'm having problems with my clutch/transmission which all started after the shop touched it.

So I'm going to pay a friend's friend's Ford tech to check it out and fix it. arg. Atleast I know he'll be honest and won't try to screw me (a real good friend's old buddy)

Thanks for the tip though, I totally agree!

When a spark plug blows out you can just fix it:
-apply a good liberal coating of JB Weld to the plug threads
-drop the plug down the plug well
-get a big drift, shove it down the plug well
-give the drift a few sharp taps with teh brass deadblow persuader
-yer done!
Yeah, I know this is a fairly common problem but I panic'd and made a new thread anyways :P

So basically, here is what happened.

Luckily, I had already purchased 8 new plugs last year so I borrowed a car and picked up one. It LOOKED like the threads were still intact so I threaded the plug in and it SEEMS to be ok!! I haven't driven it much since Monday because well, the COP looks like it's in bad shape. I'm going to get a new one before I drive it extensively. I'll post a pic of the COP tonight.

So, hopefully I escaped a bullet. I thought about putting some antiseize on the threads, threading the plug, taking it back out, and seeing how much thread is missing (if at all) but I haven't had the time.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I nearly had a heart attack that day. I did check the other plugs, 2 were ~7 ft/lbs, the other 5 were ~13 so hopefully they'll all ok now.

Well, I put a new COP in 2 weeks ago and checked the torque again. However, this afternoon on the way home it came out again. and took the threads out.

:(

:( all is not lost though man... like we've said, look into the timesert, that should be a reliable way to repair your head, at least until it is time to do an upgrade.

I'm going to call my good friend's Ford tech friend, I'll ask him about it. Thanks.

My mom told me I should get a new car, but I love my car :( (and can't afford a new one)

thats family's universal response to anything that goes wrong with my car. Unfortunately, it isn't in my budget either, and frankly, all cars have problems...
