Spec 1 clutch??

I read a long time ago someone posted that Spec had changed the formula or something like that. It was basically a bad batch. Chime in with any info please. I have a spec1 with that is on my daily driver and its already slipping. It is less than 6 months old. The shop I had put it in does great work. He called to see about getting another clutch and they are giving him crap. They will not warrant the part.

I've had a few problems with spec, but I think they are a good product. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. You probably got a bad batch. I'd call and ask them about it and see if they will do anything. They probably won't but it doesn't hurt to call and ask.

Spec clutches have the steepest learning curve I've ever experienced. My cousin runs one on a 347. It's pretty much on or off. I didn't like it. I feel it would be very difficult to slip at the track. Take that and a dollar and you could buy a cup of coffee.

No offense to you, but if I was a clutch company I wouldn't warranty a clutch either. You don't know if a 60 year old woman or a 20 year old guy is getting your product, and ANY clutch will fail if you flog it enough. It's the nature of the beast.

For your modifications a stock clutch would be fine; if you wanted to step it up a Ford HD clutch or a King Cobra clutch would be good choices for short dollars.

As I said in my post, its a daily driver. I don't do burnouts, the shop had the flywheel turned so thats not an issue. The people at spec are giving my mech crap saying I probably abused the clutch yadayada. Basically blaming everyone else except his crapy product. So he doesn't want to stand behind it.

My stage 1 is a good clutch if it would stop damn chattering. It performs very well at the strip, the 1 slips enough to give a street tired 5.0 fox a hell of a holeshot when done correctly. Not sure if some oil got on the clutch or if the flywheel wasn't resurfaced or if it's in the clutch itself.

I will say first and foremost

SPEC CLUTCHES CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!!!

My 3+ was either on or off. Didn't slip at all and that's what I liked about it. I went for 1.53 60's to 1.47's just by using one of their clutches. They are a great clutch, but just don't expect them to help you out at all with warranty problems. I had warranty problems with them after they had admitted it was their fault. :notnice:

I don't know what happened to your clutch, but normally they are a great product. :nice:
