I have a Spec Stage 1 clutch and I am happy with it. I just felt like I had to re learn how to drive my car again. My 1st 2 nice and easy take offs made my car stall.
My '93 still has the original clutch at 125k miles. When I shift from 2nd to 3rd or from 3rd to 4th at a mid to mid-high RPM, both the clutch pedal and the shifter vibrate quite a bit during the actual shift. I'm going to get a whole clutch replacement soon, but I was wondering if this vibration has everything or anything to do with the age of the clutch, flywheel, and release bearing.
Well after the installation of the new cable i called the guy at D&D Motorsport (where i bought the stuff from) and he told me that their quadrant has the exact same geometry as the stock quadrant, so he didn't know why the pedal would feel stiffer. I'm not sure how much this guy actually knows, but what I do know is that the clutch feels totally different, and I don't like it one bit. I hope the new clutch changes the feel.
It probably does have the same geometry. What I'm talking about is another issue entirely- the location of the quadrant on the shaft you slide it onto, and how much moving around it does. The stock quadrant doesn't move, and there isn't anything stopping most billet ones from moving. This is why they need to be spaced with washers like the MM kit. I have never seen the kit 95BLBLVert showed us, but in the lower right hand corner of the pic are the spacers I'm talking about. The thick one locates it where it belongs on the shaft, and the thin one goes on the other side of the quadrant between it and the snap pin that holds it on. This prohibits it from binding on the shaft when you push the clutch, and it can make a huge difference in how easy it works.

RIGHT THERE!!! My kit did NOT come with those spacers, and my mechanic asked me if it came with them, and I told him no. So, I called D&D and asked about them and he said it's not supposed to have spacers, and I didn't need them. So right now, i don't have any spacers on there. I bet thats why the pedal feels so much different. Does anyone know where I can get JUST those spacers??? It seems like I really need them afterall.
Dude, I told you. Go to the hardware store and buy a handfull of washers. Take your old quadrant in so you can size up the shaft hole, and get about a half inch-three quarter inch stack of thin ones. Shouldn't cost but a dollar or two, and well worth the effort. Like I said, the only one I know of that comes with them is MM, and now I know that 95BLBLVert has a kit that does too. Most don't- I've seen almost all of them. The MM kit actually comes with washers to do the job, not plastic spacers.
i've never had to use spacers, though it is possible you may.
check to see if your cable is lined up right and goes straight through the hole, you may not need them.
did you route your cable properly? you may not have, how is yours routed?
also, the kit will give a whole different feel. the stock quadrants tend to leave a lot of mush at the top of the pedal, vs when you have that adj kit installed, you adjust nearly all of the mush out, and it feels a lot tighter.
cable routing or spacers will be your problem. I didn't read if you got the adj or oem cable, but if you keep having problems and have an adj cable, purchase the oem non adj cable.
