I am installing my Speed Cal and don't understand part of it. How do you connect the red wire to the cigarette lighter? Are you supposed to pull the blue/white wire out of the plug that it is in and connect it to the lock provided? If so, does this mean that you have to not plug the cigarette plug back into the shifter bezel? I don't want to pull the hot wire out of the plug and find out that is not how you do it.

Thanks for the help.

To connect the wire to the cig lighter all I did was splice into the wire about 3 inches from the cig lighter. Don't pull the wire out of the cig lighter, just tap into it. I think they supply a connector so you shouldn't even have to cut the wire. You just want to tap into that wire somehow: use the supplied connector, cut and splice, or solder.

Thanks for the help.

I am having another problem now. How do I get the contact retainers out of the VSS? It does not state if you have to push down on them or pop them out towards the center of the plug.

I just used a small flat blade and pushed on the plugs from the top straight out the bottom. They say push on the sides of the snaps to disengage it. But that didn't work for me. So I just pushed on the top of them.

Thanks for the info. After I posted I went out and tried again and got it. I didn't realize that you are supposed to pull the plugs out while you holding the retainer.
