hey im new to this forum hope you can help me out
im planning on coverting my 86 to mass air has anyone here done it on their own using junkyard parts? Im a backyard mechanic on a budget so i was hoping not to spend the $500 on the kit. Anyone around Portland have the parts?

There are several avenues open to you. A jumper wire set that allows you to maintain your stock wires and add a MAS air computer and meter. The jumper wires are about $50.with instructions. The other parts you can buy a la carte to fit your combo

A complete harness from an '89 will match your harness perfectly. Get the superior A9L computer with the '89 car and the MAM. This is relatively easy and should be inexpensive.

Buy the kit from Ford Motorsports or another vendor. This is the most expensive method.

Be sure you need to switch first. If you are changing just heads, intake, and exhaust you should stay SD. If you plan on running a lopey cam, you will need to switch.

i have seen a supercharged stang with s/d that ran fine. So like he said, see what your going to run first. And damn get rid of those e6 heads, on my gt they ran out of umpf at around 5k and yes i said umpf lol GOOD LUCK
