Speedo gear prob in tranny! HELP!

OK, I had new synchro's installed in my T-5 on my 95' cobra and bought A white 23 tooth speedo gear for the 4:10 gears i had installed, before i did any of this the speedometer and every thing worked fine, now the speedometer doesn't work so i took the VSS back out to check the speedo gear it was fine, but when i put my finger in the the VSS hole on the tranny there was no gear in the tranny for the speedo gear but if I feel around in the hole i can feel the gear to the side, it's like it slid over and now can't turn the speedo gear.

Has this ever happened to any of you guy's and is there any easy way to Fix it any help would be great! Thanks.
