Speedo gears and Wheel change on 87 GT

I'm planning to buy an 87 GT Hatchback. I kept the 17x8 and 17x9 Cobra R Wheels from my previous car. Do anybody know if they will fit the 87? and also what speedometer gear I would need for my new Tire/wheel combo. The car has a Tremec 5-speed.

Assuming your last stang was also a Fox- yes, they will fit, depending on how wild you go with your tire sizes and drop springs. As for the speedo gear, go to the bottom left of this page http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/ too the "speedometer calibration utility" and punch in your numbers.
