I am getting ready to pull the inner core from my speedo cable and lubricate it or replace the whole thing if necessary due to excess chattering behind dash. WS manual claims that the way to do this is reach up behind dash panel and disconnect the cable, then pull out the core. A few questions to anyone who has done this job:
1. It looks a pretty difficult job to get behind the dash, true/not true?
2. There appears to be some type of lock that hold cable into back of instrument?
2. Can you do this from below, disconnect at gearbox and pull it out, lubricate and push back?
4. Does the core come out easily or is it held in with a retainer of some kind?
I have standard transmission '88 5.0 with cruise control.
Many thanks for any help ,
Cheers
