Surely somebody has done this so any help would probably keep me from screwing it up when i begin the installation.

Squeeze the tab on the speedo end to remove it from the speedo head. To install it just push it in until it clicks.

Trans end is held in with a bolt and clamp.

Hope this helps, your question is kinda general and vague.....

Yep like he said it is pretty easy. You just gotta pull it outta the cluster after pushing in the tabs. At the tranny the cable is held on by a little bolt just undo it, and twist and wiggle , then the speedo gear will come right out.

I'm guessing by your name that you have a 67. There should be a threaded nut holding the speedo cable into the back of the dash. May I ask why you are taking it out?

my speedometer marker was jumping around pretty bad and it eventually just quit working. yes i have a 67 coupe with a little 289. I looked today behind the instrument cluster and i could the cable disconnected. I just didn't know how it was connected at the tranny. I'll give it a try when the new cable get delivered. if i have trouble i'm sure i'll be back on here. thanks guys

67 GTA. so is the 67 treaded while earlier ones had the squeeze tab? I have to do mine soon and I'd hate to twist and break a screw on cable; kinda hard to see back there. THX.

I'm not sure about the earlier models. The 67 does have a threaded nut on the end of the cable that goes into the back of the speedometer. Click on the link for a pic of the cable ends.http://shawnr.home.apex.net

No one has mentioned this, but on my '66 I had to remove the screws attaching the instrument cluster, pull the cluster forward and partially out of the dash in order to gain good access to the rear of the speedometer and unscrew the cable (reach in through the opening where the dash cluster was - not from under the dash). I know your dash is different than mine, but keep this in mind if you don't have good access when approaching it from under the dash.

I didn't think about that. I had to pull mine out too to get at the nut. The steering column is in the way from underneath.
