speedometer wont turn on

hey guys my speedometer wont light up could it be a fuse? or what can cause this?

the entire gauge cluster wont light up or just the speedometer?

it could be a fuse, just check them, or it could be a plug....check those too. might have to pull the cluster to see though. check all the fuses and connections that go to the cluster if it comes down to that

I assume you checked the dimmer switch, but if that switch fails, it turns out the dash lights AND the exterior lights such as the tail lights. Brake lights still work, but no tail lights with the headlights on. My local law enforcement informed me of that situation. My dimmer switch has one sweet spot where it all works, and the rest of it is basically dead.

thankx will check this tomorrow aswell. have moved the dim light from side to side and nothing but ill see if the other lights turn on

I have seen the dimmer switch fail while still leaving all other lights working fine.

Check the easier stuff first, but I suspect that is the problem...

does anyone know what the fuse #5 control? its blown maybe thats the reason the dim switch doesnt work i will replace it tomorrow and see what happends

That fuse should not be the cause of the problem.

The potential fuses would more likely be #4 and #13, I believe.

thankx guys for all the info. turns out it was just the fuse so easy fix. What turns on the map light?? i changed the bulb and doesnt turn on yet

The map light is activated by a built in switch. If you lower the light you can see the little black pin switch. Chances are the switch is broken inside. You should feel some resistance from the spring if you push in the switch. If you don't it is definitely broken inside. Sometimes it can be fixed with a bit of epoxy.
