I know we are all biased towards the lightning but let me ask you a simple question.....why would you choose anything else? For example, why would you get an SRT-10 that can't haul anything for fear of screwing up the engine? And then you have the SSR (which I might add is the ugliest thing on four wheels) which you can't haul anything either. Now why would anybody buy a Sport TRUCK if the whole purpose of it is ruined. At least with the SVT Lightning you can haul 5000lbs or so....it still has some function. Can anybody answer that question for me?

Lightning is the best total combination. thats why it works. I personally am getting on as soon as my cobra sells, and wouldn't get any other truck

The Lightning is the best combination. However, the SRT-10 can tow up to 6000 lbs. with the Quad Cab automatic tranny. I think it was the T-56 6 speed that wasn't allowing the original standard cab model any kind of tow rating.
I'm a big proponent of the Ram SRT, but I simply can't afford the asking price of the SRT-10. When I bought my Hemi Ram, it just offered superior performance (both acceleration and handling) against its standard Ford and GM competition, plus it has a nice interior, great options and plenty of looks.
For my needs, a Lightning just isn't that practical plus there's those poor crash test ratings for that body style that bother me some. Stilll, I would have considered the 02/03 Harley Supercrew but at $38,000+ with no incentives and no dealer price breaks, they weren't even on the radar and I've always loved the Ram Sports and I'm satisfied with the power it offers...even if its not up to competing head to head with the blown 5.4 Triton. Its still a fun truck to drive for the money and its can still work.
But kudos to the Lightning. Definitely a great performance truck; just not for a family man.
