Am I understanding correctly that you unbolted the control arm to install the spring and it wouldn't line up? If so, what possessed you to do that? Put the rear framerails on jackstands, unbolt the bottom of the shocks, lower the rear end with you jack, and the springs should flop out like Janet Jackson's breast.

have you ever lowered a stang?????? cause simply unbloting the shocks wont do jack, cause they are still attached to the axle & the control arm is attatched to the axle. in order to get them out you have to take one bolt out of the control arm & let it down to release pressure on the spring

*at least thats the only was i saw to do it*

I followed the instructions from:

http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/steedaspring1.htm

I just disconnected both rear shocks, lift the car and left the axle hanging, the spring came out easy, I did everything by myself, front and rear, shocks struts and springs.

To answer your first question, yes. 75-minutes in a standard garage on jackstands for springs, shocks, and struts. One day when you are bored, jack your GT up, put jackstands near the torque-box area, unbolt the shocks from the rear axle, lower your jack to let the rear drop, and see what happens. Unless your GT is different than everyone elses, the rear will drop about another 3-5" and the springs will literally fall out. You never have to touch a bolt on the control arms. Had you done it that way, the rear would have taken 30-minutes max w/shocks and maybe 45-minutes with.

i'll do it that way & see how it goes when i replace the isolators next week (i found some that aren't near as bulky, maybe a 1/4in thick at max) so that should bring it down a little more too
