Spring install problem

Hey guys,

We are in the middle of installing springs and following the stangnet instructions except we have a little problem.

The bolt in the rear attaching the spring arm to the axle needs to come out to drop the arm.

Except it won't, for all those who did this how hard was it to get out and should we be trying anything special?

I assume your talking about the bolt in the lower control arm. I unfortunately had to deal with that on my springs also, though a lot of people don't.

I would say unbolt the shock and everything else and lower the control arm and spring all the way down. That should take all the tension off the bolt. Then i would just use a screw driver and a hammer and push it through.

Getting it back in may be a challenge. It took me and a friend 30mins of playing with the rear end to line the hole back up again.

BaXTeR3221 got a good idea by doing that. Now all i did was jack up the diff its self, just enough to take off the pressure. Then take off the bottom rear shock bolts and dropped the whole rear end down all the way. Then just man handled the spring out with my hands and a pri-bar. You might need to have more room to get the spring out, so what helped me was to jack up the other side that your not working on, and that pushes the other side down enough so you can pull that spring out.
I have done this so many times i can do it in 22 mins. lol

Hey guys thank again for all your help.

My dad and I were able to get the shocks and spring installed by pretty much undoing 3 bolts.

I was looking at the sportline install instructions and they have the spring layout matching for each side.

Is this correct because I do recall reading somthing about making sure the pigtails were in the same spot as the factory springs.

We installed them the way the instructions said. When I took a measurment the passenger side was up about a 1/4 inch. Will this fix itself when the spring settle?

we will be tackling the fronts tomorrow morning and hope they will go off without a hitch. Anymore tips or tricks to making the install easier?

Me and a friend just installed springs on my car last weekend. I had heard that the fronts were a little harder to install, but I think they were actually pretty easy. Just take your time and follow your install instructions and it will go pretty smoothly. Good luck!
