springs...help!!

2 questions

ive been wanting to lower my car for some time now, and now that i got 18x10s in the rear, it really needs to be lowered, only about 1 to 1.25 inches. ive held off on this because springs/shock are really expesive, and im nervous about my prochamber, which sits low to begin with and even lightly scrapes on a speed bump here and there. will i be ok? those with prochambers...do they sit low also?? and secondly, i was looking at the ford C-springs, only 150 from mustangtuning.com is this a good choice? i know my ride will be stiff with stock shocks, but theyll have to wait...will this be ok?

My car has fox springs on it and the bbk h-pipe will scrape pretty badly on speed bumps. As long as you don't go hauling butt over them it shouldn't mess up the pipe. Just slowly scrape them over it.

You should be ok if you take it easy on bumps. I get decent scraping from Sportlines. I guess stay away from the Eibach Sportlines cuz everyone says they sag. Not something Im looking forward to. Ford C springs arent bad, could look into maximum motorsport. And you REALLY should upgrade those stock shocks. A less expensive way is Mach 1 shocks/struts. And take a look at Mach 1 springs as well. Also whenever you lower a Mustang it would be a good idea to get some adjustable caster/camber plates. Without them I was at -2.4 degrees camber.

The stock shocks/struts are crapola, I dont have any experience with the Ford C springs but any aftermarket springs will shorten the life of your stock shocks/struts. My o/r Prochamber doesnt scrape but the mufflers on the catback do.

Eibach Pros here. 1 to 1.25 drop all around. No sag and still on factory shocks/struts (35k). No problems with scraping, but I don't have the prochamber either. C/C plates not needed (at this time), I had a reputable tire shop get the alignment within factory spec (barely).

Only thing that has hit my prochamber since I got it was that deer body. But I've drove lots of lowriders back in the day so I'm a little more cautious about a lowered car.
The c springs seem to give a nice rack to a car. The SuperSports look good with the rim combo you listed.
Depends on how you drive, condition of the current shocks struts. with a 1-1.5 drop you can drive with the stockers but need to plan on changing them. The Fox body shocks and struts are shorter some use them with success.
IN order to do it right. you need to price. 1. springs 2. Caster Camber plates 3. shocks & struts 4. alingment and if you don't do the work yourself that too.

hehe. here is your answer. I have eibach sportlines, stock struts and shocks, and very low exhaust. Like th eothers said u wont have problems going over speed bumps that much. its the very small but tall speed bumps u have to watch out for and on those u have to go sideways but at 115K miles my stock struts and shocks are still workin like new.

PS make sure u get C/C plates.

wow thats alot...about how long will my shocks last after installing the new springs, are C/C plates really needed, and about how much is an alignment?

Requirement of new C/C plates depends on your suspension. If it's all still stock and you only lower it about 1" then usually it can be aligned within spec. My alignment was about $60 (tire rotation included). If you can afford the plates, might as well get them now.

I say price it. You may or maynot need them. I had a set, actually still in the floor, before I put the springs in just in case I needed them.
How long depends, I've known people put 40k miles no problem also known people that blow struts and shocks out in 6 months 10k maybe.
Alignment cost depends on your area, also you might want to check and see if shops in your area will align a lowered car. Seems last year some were having trouble finding shops to do it.
