Hi all -
I've got a 2003 GT with about 118,000 miles on it. Recently I have noticed it makes a clicking/knocking kind of noise above 2000 rpm, and it continues as rpm's increase. It goes away if I let off the gas or step on it a little harder. After much research, I have the depressing feeling it may be a spun rod bearing.
What is the best way to confirm this? I assume the knock would be loudest under the car/engine? Would there be metal shavings in the oil? Can a defective chain tensioner cause the same sound?
If it is a spun rod bearing, what is the best solution? Rebuild, engine swap, rebuilt...
Thanks
