just got a question, i got the car running and when driving if i push on the gas hard or kinda harder than usual the car sputters, if i ease the gas down it will do just fine, also there is a slight clicking noise when the car is running could that be a loose lifter?
oh wow haha i was thinking the whole time not to forget that info and i just spaced my roommates where being strange, but anyways its a holley 600 i believe i cant remember off hand but defiantly a holley vacuume secondaries manual choke my neighbor seemed to think that there where too big of jets on it...could that be the exact opposite problem? or just running lean
No larger jets, try adjusting the accellerator pump arm clearance. In the gap between the pump arm and cam lever (driver's side of carb, forward of the throttle linkage) you want zero clearance. When you have the air cleaner off, and the engine stopped, work the throttle linkage. The instant the throttle moves, you should have fuel squirt out of the two nozzles in the primary throttle bore (under the choke plate) This primes the engine and compensates for the temporary lean condition from when the throttle is first opened till the fuel starts to flow from the venturis.If you ease the throttle open, the lean out doesn't occur, or isn't enough to cause it to stumble. Changing jets only changes the fuel mixture when the main metering circuit is working, that's a few milliseconds after the throttle is opened.
it sounds to me like you are running out of fuel in the bowl. start by setting your float levels. they should be just below the bottom of the sight plugs. do your self a favor and get a set of clear plugs, that way you dont have the plugs out with the engine running.
