I have a 02 Mustang 3.8 L. There is a squeal I can't find where it's coming from. (not belt,ac,alt, waterpump and steering pump) and now it squeals real bad then stalls, but it comes and goes. It now sounds like its coming from the old distributor hole there is a sensor there... ANY ANSWERS? Thanks.

Yes..you're right ...its probablly the cam position sensor(looks like a little cap) setting sorta under EGR valve.I had the same problem...need special tool to install though, and get a genuine Ford replacement...about $325 to install at service center

it's common for the syncronizer to start to squeal like that. the cam sensor is the black hat that sits on top of the syncro.

i don't use the tool unless I mess up the first time. just reference the body of the syncro to someplace you will remember on the motor, and then mark where the sncro tab is in refernce to the snycro body.
