If you use your stock heads, you may use your stock push rods.

You will have to do a bit of geometry....

to see if the push rod you have now are good, put some black marker on the tip of a valve. put the push rod in the hole, mount your rocker. turn the crank 2 or 3 turns, Then, take of the rockers and look at the tip of the valve.

If the mark done by the rocker is in center, you are ok with this push rod. if the mark is more on a side.... your are to long or to short.... use an adjustable push rod to find your correct lenth,by doing this thest until your mark is in center.

ok thanks, ALSO i want to run 1.7 rockers with the stage 1, will i need the spring upgrade for the twisted wedge heads to make them the "street" version? also, whats some formulas on finding the lift on a stage 1 .499/.510 with 1.7 rockers?

thanks,

Drew

p.s would it be smart to run a rocker girdle with that kind of lift?

.499 / 1.6 x 1.7 = lift with 1.7's is .530
.510 / 1.6 x 1.7 = lift with 1.7's is .541

they say the twisted wedge springs are good to .550 stock so is that even worth taking the chance?

If the heads are off the car now and you have the money for a set of springs....why not be safe. You dont want to ruin an expensive set of heads just because you were trying to save a buck or two. Springs are relatively cheap. If you are running the 1.7 and your lift comes up to .541 and the springs are good to .550. That only .009 clearance. Most guys like to have .040-.060 of an inch clearance. If you were running 1.6 you would have .040 and that would be OK. But .009 is really close. You may get away with and you may NOT. I imagine some guys are running them same setup and will tell you that it is ok. BUT WILL THEY PAY FOR YOUR PARTS WHEN YOUR MOTOR GRENADES ITSELF. You could sell the old springs to make some of your money back.

It's up to you but if it were me. I would get a better set of springs or run 1.6 rockers.

To figure out lift of the cam with a certain rocker. Take your lift # with 1.6 and divide by 1.6. And then multiply the number you get by your new ratio.

.500 / 1.6 = .3125.........3125 X 1.7= .531
