stage II PI heads ?'s

I told myself I wouldn't do this, but its a hard not to, so anyway thinking about doing this.

found a deal on the heads brand new and complete(w/o cams though) for 1200 and change, now what else will I need if I decided to go this route? obviously the cams, and I'd need to find the romeo style valve covers.

but my question is what else besides the obvious, does this cause fuel starvation problems or anything like that? or can I just bolt on the new heads and call it a day?

If your gonna change the heads, get some cams too. Otherwise you'll need to swap your stock cams into your new heads. Do you have exhaust or other intake mods to support your cams/heads? If you just put on heads and use your stock cams you won't be able to take full advantage of the increased headflow, but that goes for your other intake and exhaust stuff also. But if you do put the heads on then no it won't cause fuel issues but degree the cams while your in there and if you do get upgraded cams, then you might want a tune, depending on the cam. Either way it's not just a quick swap, unless you have some experience.

factory intake, though I'm debating getting the newer aluminum style, exhaust is stock manifolds and mufflers with an x-pipe, dunno the brand, but it seems decent.

like rob said though, I don't want it to become the "project thats always sitting in the garage". I want to be able to drive it regularly once its back together...

If you're gonna go through the hassle of swapping the heads, put some stage 2 cams in there with valvesprings as well (if they heads dont already have them) and get it tuned...then call it a day. If you dont do it all, I dont see much of the point.

The car will run with stock cams and stage 2 heads but regardless you may need a tune so if you have an extra $600 I would go with a set of stage 2 cams. Someone already said it best, "you cant take full advantage of the airflow!" Do that and it will still be a normal daily driver but you will be able to hang with stock LS1 cars if not run them down.

how crazy is the stage III set-up?? I only ask because I found a set for about $1400 with cams, so whats the difference between those and the stage II as far as what I will need to get it back together?? and as far as drivability?

Stg III's will shift your powerband even higher, and torque for a daily driver will be terrible for a near stock GT.

so back to the stage II.... so those billet cams that patriot performance has on their site are the right ones to run?

it says on their site that the "OEM bolt on cam gears" are "required for the billet cams" , but the 99-00 OEM cam gears aren't press fitted (think I read that somewhere anyway) so those are the same ones right?

so the way I'm seeing it, all I should need is the complete heads, the billet cams, and all the neccessary gaskets etc...
