We bought a 1986 mustang last week for 500 bucks to make a street legal drag car out of. We took our 95 to the track and could only get 15.2 out of it so we decided to get a car we could actully make fast for a reasonable amount of money so we bought an old foxbody. The car has good sheetmetal and perfect glass and no rust that I can find. I started stripping the interior today and should start putting a motor for it together pretty soon. The car will have a carbed engine combo to be decided later on, it currently has a 3.8 V6 residing under the hood that runs great but it will be coming out soon. It will definately be a work in progress and I will try to make updates when I can. Budget is 4-5k.

Not bad!

You could build a pretty sweet, quick ride with that budget for sure!!! Start up a progress thread

Thanks, I think the wheels for this car will be weld draglites, latemodel resto has a weld wheel/tire package that I'll probably buy for it when I get the money. I think the engine will be a nice aluminum headed 306 with a tubular K member, 2600 stall convertor, new paint, 8.8 rear end, 3.73's, longtubes, custom cam, weiand stealth 4 barrel intake, Edelbrock carb and maybe a shot of nitrous.

Hopfeully with that and the weight reduction it should be a pretty quick car.

Thanks again, monday I am going to check out a couple of junkyards to see if there is any decent looking motors to freshen up and build. I am still thinking a 351 based engine would be nice.
