Anyone have the braided stainless break lines on there Cobra ??

If so, wondering how much pedal feel/hardness in any you noticed.

Bottom line, are they worth it??

I was told with the new ABS systems and all the extra plumbing in todays brake setups that adding a 12" piece of braided steel line at all 4 corners makes no noticeable difference in feel.

i have them on the front of my car. and there is little to no difference.

Then how in the world do we get rid of the "sponginess" of older brake systems? My 04 Grandprix GT feels like it will stop twice as fast as my Cobra and it's a four door with smaller discs!

You just answered your own question. On the older brake systems adding SS lines may in fact improve feel. As for your 04 GT "feeling" like it stops quicker this may be contributed to it's lighter weight.

I am just gonna get some Hawk pads and have my rotors turned.

I'll take the money I save on the extras and get line lock.

Bleed and flush the fluid I did this the other nite and what a diffference in pedal feel.

No current problems, the pedal is fine. Just wondering due to the fact I want to powder coat my calipers and since I had them off....... might do some other things as well.

You just answered your own question. On the older brake systems adding SS lines may in fact improve feel. As for your 04 GT "feeling" like it stops quicker this may be contributed to it's lighter weight.

Already did that on the fronts which is supposed to be 80-90% of the stopping power and can't really tell the difference!

According to the specs I read your GP is around 3500 pounds.

That's a little lighter than what I would have thought, but my Cobra is 3391 according to Ford.

There is one word that you need to know to fix your brakes. "Wilwood"

Get the Superlight 6 and the 14" 2 piece rotors. Smooth or slotted. NO Holes!! You will never need to worry about your brakes again. Pad change is so easy too!

I was thinking more about your problem. Are you running DOT 5 fluid?
DOT 5 fluid is not hygroscopic. As moisture enters the system, it is not absorbed by the fluid. This results in beads of moisture moving through the brake line, collecting in the calipers. This can cause a spongy feel. It is not uncommon to have caliper temperatures exceed 200° F, and at 212° F, this collected moisture will boil causing vapor lock and system failure.

Just something to think about. I always run 570 DOT 3

I just purchased a set and I will let you know how they are. Kenny Brown recommends them and says that they will shorten your braking distances in a modern car.
