You are going to want more than a 2400 RPM Stall TC, your stock one is 2400 - 2700 RPM. You have a 4R70W auto transmission. The only shift kit you want is the J-Mod. I have a 96 TBird which is a bit heavier than a convertable GT, it had 3.27's stock, I had put 3.55's, 3.73's and 4.30's in the car. My car has had it's TC upgraded to a few times as well, the first was a Mustang GT TC, a 3800 RPM Stall TC and now a 4200+ RPM Stall TC.

If I had your car, I would get a 3500+ RPM Stall TC, J-Mod Shift kit and 4.10's with a good tune by a well-known auto-transmission SCT Tuner.

I stall will help greatly. I would go at least 3,000 or better. You don't have to launch at it's max RPM all the time, but you might regret not getting a bigger one later on when you have more mods.

I need to drive a car with a high stall...I dont get it....is it only for launches?..or will it still kick the rpms up higher when im going and get on it?

it's really not that noticable at lower loads. As you increase the load ( press down on the gas or climb a hill) the RPM's will climb higher then they do stock. When you get on it you will think you were driving a different car.

I have owned both and worked on both a properly stalled well built auto with good gears is a blast to drive and will KILL a similar 5-speed car.

hmm..interesting..would bad , burnt atf fluid make the stock stall not work as good?...
