Ok, well my car sits in the garage awaiting the winter upgrades. For this winter I have planned:

#1 8 rib belt coversion

My first question is what kit should I get and what size pulley should I get? I would like to do a smaller crank pulley to boost the car some more. I am currently getting 13lbs of boost and 576 HP on my current set up.

#2 Is I have to rebuild my transmission.

My poor stock T-45 was not ment for the kind of torture a almost 600HP car gives. I have an awesome ACT clutch that can handle the power, but I need to know what kind of guts I need to beef up this transmission. The gears themselves are in great condition, but I need some syncros and some new bearings. Any rebuild kits you guys could reccomend would be great.

#3 Is the P-51 Intake

I don't really have any questions except for will it clear a 2002-2004 Gt hood?

Thanks in advance for any help you may give!

1. http://www.bggperformance.com/ for all your 8-rib needs! Customer service is simply awesome.

2. While you're at it switch to a TKO 600, or T56 if you want a 6spd, either way you'll be getting a better transmission than any built T45.

3. P-51 is great. It will NOT fit under the stock hood without modifications. Some people get away with just removing the hood liner, while others have to notch the underside of the hood. Originally Foxlake tried to make it to fit under the stock hood, but didn't do such a great job, heh. The P-51 is IMO the best intake manifold on the market for our cars anyway

Thanks Benny!
My concerns with getting a whole new transmission are I know that tko isn't rated for the power I want to make. The clutch I have now is awesome, and I don't really want to drop anymore coin an a new one if I don't have to. I figured there had to be some kind of kit that would allow me to keep my current transmission. What are the 03 cobra transmissions rated at power wise and how hard is it to do this conversion and most importantly how much does it cost??!!!

i think rebuilding you 5-speed may be whats best for what you describe. And it shouldn't clear the hood. Dont see any other questions

If you want a beefy T45 replacement look into ProMotion Powertrain. They claim to have a T45 that will handle what you want to throw at it.

Probably should have held out for some skin...

a cobra T56 is ok but a Viper Spec T56 is what you're looking for at your power level.
VIPER T56
bell housing - C185L 8080 4.6/5.4 T56 164T $449
i think they still have a kit for around $4K

I'm really looking at the P51 for my car. if it doesnt clear the stock hood then you have an excuse to buy a cowl hood

BTW what pulley do you have on your car now and how much boost are you seeing? you have almost the exact same mods that i have in my new engine, except mine will have blower cams. are you running any IC??

Yeah I have some killah blower cams they are comp cams grind XE278, and I am running a 2.9" RR pulley. With everything I have done thus far I am getting 13#s of boost. I want to crank that up to more like 18-20#s.

Owch 4K for a tranny!!!! holy batman......I think I may just keep rebuilding mine for that price! or wait until the winter of 2008 to slap that baby in!

For those of you who have myspace you can view some pics of my car, and see what I look like

it may be a little cheaper.

i picked up my Viper T56 with a clutch and flywheel for $2K slightly used. check SVTP for some deals on transmissions, but be ready to buy when you find them!

You can run any transmission you want, given you have to abide by the limitations of the transmission. If you drag race, then chose a drag race tranny. Just be willing to live with the idiosyncrasies of a given gearbox. you can pick up 6speeds on ebay, even a used tko once in a while. What is your main goal for your car and your driving? McLeod Clutches makes a bellhousing to put almost any tranny behind that engine. You can also try Swarr Automotive or D&D in Wixom,MI. Both shops are highly reputable and are willing to help. Walt at ProMotion Powertrain in Florida is also an excellant source for info. Let me know is this helps. (I run a Dart 331 w/ a t-56 six speed in my 89' vert)

Umm I thought with a smaller crank pulley and a blower pulley I could spin the crank faster and make more boost.

I am WRONG! Anderson motorsports claims I need a 10% larger dampner for supercharged applications and 10% smaller for nonsupercharged.
Here is the website I found to suppoert my claim:

Lil bit heh. Smaller crank pulley would be under driving the accessories, a bigger one would be over driving it. What you want is big crank pulley, small blower pulley (well, you want as big a blower pulley as you can get away with to reduce belt slip).

you can run a 10% OD crank pulley and still keep the same tensioner. a 20% OD will require a lot more modding

What do you think would be best for my set up? I have absolutely no experience with changing the crank pulley at all.
