Stang is broken

I just open it up a little to get the cam and timing chain out. Fortunately, the cam is in mint shape :D I was 3 seconds away from taking the remaining bolt on the oil pan but decided to keep it on. Too busy doing other stuff today and I'm sure I would of spent too much time in there. I'll take the oil pan off when I get the digicam back tomorrow or Monday.

Mario,

How's it going?

Not bad Dan. Same stuff remaining to do. Dont have a garage to work in and I'm stucked in the driveway. Its either 40* outside with humidity or it rains. I'm pretty much stucked either way.

Still have the linelock to remove, swap fuel pumps, and swap carrier/axles.

If anybody has or knows somebody with a 5.0 shortblock that was running GOOD before removal that is for sale, let me know ASAP please. Dont mind at all driving to Mtl to pick it up if I have to.

Thanks

While taking the 31spline carrier out yesterday, I somehow broke some small piece in the rearend. Its called the differential bearing shim. We have one on each side of the carrier. Turns out this stupid ring is worth 30-35$ a piece and that they only sell it in pairs so times2 = 60-70$. :bang: You cant just use any shims. They have specific size in 1000/in and you absolutely need to get the closet thing out there...Im upset about it.

I took the 31spline axles out and carrier, reinstalled the front swaybar, reinstalled the quadshocks in the rear, swapped my Autometer gauge cluster panel for my stock one and removed the 2 gauges in it. The line lock is next on the list since I wont get my shim til next week. Also want to reinstall the stock heavy H-Pipe asap.

I'm getting tired of this crap and will be putting all the stuff for sale very shortly.

thats kinda what i figured. just such a hasel to swap everything back. :(

The thing is , you cannot ask more money when aftermarket performence parts are already on the car , the buyer want to ( and will ) buy it at the stock retail value , this is not a rare car , it's a Mustang , so Mario will get ( example ) 10 K for the car " stock " and he will get 10 K with the mods on .

We ( most Stagnet user ) will take very good care of our cars , so if you sell it bone stock that clean , you will sell it fast , all the mods should be sold seperatly , time consuming but you'll get more money at the end . We all lose in this game but we ( I ) don't care it's fun to put it together.

Also ( In my case tho ) I can't buy a 10K car cash so I need the bank , but if I tell the bank I need a 20K load for a 10K car ( insurance value ) I don't think they will help me that much.

I knew my 2000 GT Convertible was wholesalable at 15K last fall and this is what I got for it , I sold 8K of mods on the web ( wheels , Nitrous kit , chip , suspension etc. ) and was happy with my deal .I did not go af far as mario is going with he gears etc tho.

Don't think I'd have been able to get 23K Wholesale price when they don't sell much more the 23K summer time . Not a good buy for the dealer if you pay a car 23K when it's all you can get for it retail . Tough to finance etc. we all remember it's a Mustang . Don't get me wrong , I love cars but I'm in the wholesale "retail" business and can understand the point of view of both parties.

I'm getting another beer now.... :D

Sucks big time.

Can i ask why not just sell the car as is? why part it out? suppose you can get more that way eh?

I tried to sell it for a month with all the mods on. The stang was advertised in the autotrader and all the local mustang websites. I hardly got any calls. The price I was asking was rediculous compared to all the stuff that was installed. And all before the blown piston, I knew that sometime in the summer, I'd have to put the stang to stock to sell it as if. So this was just a good kick in the butt to tell me to do it now. :(
