Stang only runs at 30deg+ timing with spout out.

Well the stang has been sitting for about 6 months now since the problem occured. I have been so busy with life that i have just let it sit, but i wanna get my ride back on the road now. I was just driving down the road at a normal speed when it sputtered and died on me. At first it had no spark. So i changed my Coil then my TFI then my Dizzy. After all that it had some spark again but i could not get it to start. I have taken it to TDC several times and couldnt get it to go. I played with me turning it and my dad playing with the dizzy and we got it to fire up. But it ended up being at 33 degrees timing with the spout out. If you got below 29 degrees it just dies right away. It runs pretty rough above 30 but it will idle and run. What the heck.

Things changed with no affect:
TwEECer set to off and removed
Computer
Dizzy
Coil
TFI
Compression test came out perfect

I am so out of ideas my dad says he think it might be weak spark which is why it will only run advanced with little pressure but when the compression is higher later in the cycle it will not ignite.

Any help would be great!!!

Is it possible you have the distributor 180° out now? You'd have to crank the timing way up to get it back to where it'd run decent, but it would probably still be way down on power.

It's also easy to miss TDC, I did that on my GT and had to advance my timing really far to get it to run. Having the dizzy out 180 sounds weird, but try it.

You might want to look at your balancer maybe it has spun. So 30 degrees might be 5 degrees.

Ok well its most definitely not 180 out. I have been working on this car for years and kinda know how to do it. Also i took it to a shop who has been working on stangs for a while and they couldn't figure the problem out either.

The balancer may be a possibility. It makes me with i would have spent the dough and got a ROMAC or something.

Mine did this when my ball. went out. I got a pioneer unit (non-sfi) and have been 100% happy with it. I went threw 2-3 stock replacements in less than 3mo and got the Pioneer.

So that would mean that something went wrong with my ignition which required me to change my ignition components but i also my balancer also happened to move which created a double problem.

The ball. could have been bad before the ign. problem. When you installed the new stuff is when you found out. The outer ring on our ball. tend to "spin" on the inner hub. and that causes the problem as the timing marks are now off.

The thing is you really have to stop and look at the HB. Often times the rubber belt that is between the inner and outer HB ring will be sitting un-even. By that I mean it will not be uniform or part of it may actually be hanging out a bit. I noticed on one of my bad HB that it actually started getting rub marks from hitting the underdrive pullies.

If you are sure you installed the dizzy correctly I would bet the HB is bad. If it is a stocker I would bet money on it.
