Unfortunately, the award is just from me! But seriously, I want to put this out there.
Y'all know I finally bought me a 2006 Honda CR-V to drive daily. It's a nice inexpensive ride. But it still needs repairs at times. I've been on the mustang forums since day one. I know what to expect. But I'm new to the Honda forums. One would think that they were merely the same as Stangnet but with Honda info... Right? Absolutely not!
Let me give a couple cut and paste actual responses.
Keep in mind these forums are divided into chassis, body, drive train, etc. So you'd think in the engine forum you could ask and get help with tech regarding engine matters...

Poster: "hey, can someone tell me the torque specs on the second gen CR-V valve cover? "
Actual response: "that info is in a shop manual...You should have one."
Another response: "I have the manual. It's on page 156 for your reference"
Op: "well do you mind telling me what it is?"
Response: "I paid for the manual and it's a copyright infringement to share"

That's right. If you even share a picture of any manual or info you will get banned. Here's another one.....

Poster: "I got a p0661 code on my Honda. It's says IMRC valve. Can someone tell me which sensor triggered this code because it's vague."
Actual answer: "Stop using those stupid code readers and take the vehicle to a Honda dealership like you are supposed to do."

The "like you are supposed to do" really got me. I could go on. The entire forum is like that. I can fix anything on my vehicles but it's nice sometimes to see others approach to things. I kinda thought that's what "tech forums" were for.

My point is, I have zero confidence in anything they say. One day on any of those places makes you thankful for the resources we have on here. We make it a point to share info and help people. I was so hoping there would be a forum for Hondas like this one.

So thanks to everyone who has ever been a part of making this forum a great, dependable and friendly place to learn and laugh.

I've tried other Forums for other Ford vehicles. Didn't get much anywhere. Different cars have a different level of technical interest from their owners. More guys on here have done more stuff. I'd get more information on the oil pump from a 302 on here, than I would from a Ford Explorer forum even though both vehicles have the same engine.

I find it hard to believe that all Honda forums are that bad. The Honda brand has a pretty dedicated enthusiast following.

I've registered and been on them over a year now so sorry you don't believe me Kurt. How about just a nod to how good this forum and our friends on here are.

Kinda deflating in this kind of post to be called a liar first thing.

Geeze. Guess I should stop posting EVTM pages everytime someone needs a wiring diagram for something.

I’ve had mixed opinions on some of the other forums I’m on and I’ve come and gone to over the years as my Daily Driver’s have changed. I find that the forum’s tone tends to follow the tone set by a core group of posters. Usually the top 15-20 or so.

I’ve also seen the content change as a car ages. When they are new, you most difficult question is “what kind of oil do I use” and most posters are gone in 3-5 years when the car gets traded in. 5-10 years seems to be the sweet spot when the car still has value so people want to take care of them, but the age of the car means more routine repairs are necessary. As a result more tech-savvy people tend to own these cars and the need for mutual learning into how to fix certain things means greater knowledge sharing. After 10 years, the cars depreciation is bottoming out and people start scooping them up for cheap. Now your tech questions are “can I lower my car by using hose clamps on the springs”

This reminds me why I'm not on other sites.
And yes, Stangnet seems to be the most, ahhh, 'stable'.
I have wondered onto other sites mostly through google searches and I've found threads that were helpful and the members were not abusive.
Oh, and the compliment is appreciated

You'd probably get a better answer about a honda tech question here. It's amazing the amount of knowledge people have here. I'd hate for it to get over run by non mustang / ford questions though.

I do belive this is not only the best Mustang site but maybe best of all, although taurus car club of America (tcca) has to be best taurus site with awsome tech shared.

More than anything else, I attribute the SN "style" to the age group that dominates here. We have a lot of dudes that have been turning wrenches for really long time. Not all of them post consistently and sometimes we don't see members for years at a time.

They still pop in and out depending on life etc...

The backbone of this site from what I've seen is M2 and Fox, people. Those are the sections where I see the most interaction between the 'old heads' that have been doing this since those cars were new and the new folks who just couldn't wait to become old enough to own one.

Of course, those sections have an unfair multiplier because of the sheer number of cars produced.

We have a ton of [specialists] on this site. People who know certain aspects of the Fox so well that they can perform those tasks with their eyes closed. Now, many times, I associate these areas of expertise by their avatar. So.... YOU PEPLE STOP CHANGING YOUR DAMNED AVATARS!

I'm on the forum as well. I agree it's a decent community.

I haven't been on FEP in years. How's that forum doing?

I've always had antique ford trucks. I will give a good word about FTE. Ford Truck Enthusiast. That site is good like this one. Lots of older guys building trucks. Friendships and get togethers a couple times a year. I actually miss being on there. I sold this one about 4 or 5 years ago.
