Well, after 9 months down I started the car again, it seemed fine but I forgot to fully plug in the dist. plug into the harness, don't know what issues that would cause but it fired up, no knocking or weird noises, anyways the stock volt guage stays at the lower part of it and when I took it out for a drive it died at the stop sign when I turned on the blinker, I checked the voltage at the battery while idling and it's around 12v and thats what it is at the alt. nut connecting to the harness also, another problem is that it will crank over nice like 3 times, then stop, act like it doesent want to start and then bam it fires but it seems weird, almost like the motor seizes, everything was done right and the rockers where also done right, it has plenty of oil pressure what would cause these issues?? I have parked it because I don't want to damage this motor also.

Ok so I went to AZ and got a new ALT. because the old one wasn't charging, well just put it in and same chit, sounds like it wants to knock when it want's to cut off, what could sound like knocking when it wants to cut off??? I spent too much money on this thing to not drive it.

It sounds like your charging system isn't working and your battery is on the edge. At idle, you should have at least 13V or higher. The voltage output of the alternator has to be higher than the battery or else it won't charge. Compare your voltage between idling and shut off. If it's not higher at idling, then something is up with your charging system. It could be something simple or the alternator itself. I would suggest that you confirm this step and go through the factory shop manual diagnostic tree. The motor itself is probably fine.

I already went and bought a new ALT. but did nothing, now it diesels when it wants to shut off??? WTF!!!!!!:mad::mad: Im pissed and I don't want to damage anything trying to diagnose it.:nonono::nonono: What the hell do I do?

Your charging system works in conjunction with the other parts, First make sure your battery has a full charge, if the battery is low the alt will not work correctly, put your battery on a charger and make sure its fully charged. Make sure your serpentine belt has sufficent pressure on the alt pully, and finally make sure your ground and positive cables are on well enough.

how old is the battery? you said its been sitting for 9 months, i almost garuntee its the battery is shot. try putting a different one in and see what happens.

also if you still have the stock wire running from your alt to battery, it could be bad.

mine was falling apart on the inside, so that mixed with U/D pulleys was a nightmare at a red light.

i put a new thicker gauge wire and cleaned my grounds really good. next time it's in storage use a battery tender, it saves a ton of head aches. i would also double check your timing.

good luck

Car has a new battery, though I found the big plug that goes on the ALT. is missing insulation on the two wires of the three wires and are touching, so i went ahead and bought a new plug kit from ford, also there is some insulation missing from harness side of the plug that connects to the dizzy so im going to fix that also, as for the knocking, they call it "dieseling" sorry can't spell deisel LOL and they said it might be from bad gas from the gas sitting for 9 months.
