Well, after 2 1/2 weeks (one week of down time do to a stripped bolt) I got the Kenne Bell 9psi kit up and running. The only thing I have left to do is install the guage pods which I will do tomorrow night.

So tonight, after checking all of the connections and fluid levels and plugging the computer back in, it was time to fire her up. The first 2 or 3 tries she would try to start but wouldn't. Then on the 4th time it started but was really rough. Then after about 30 seconds it cut off but I had no check engine lights or anyting. So I fired it up again and it sounded rough again but then it smoothed out and idled nicely. I did notice some light smoke coming up from the driver side but I think that was antifreeze burning off that was spilled in the "backfilling" part of the intercooling system. So I decided to take her for a spin. My "check coolant" light came on after about a block so I came back home and the coolant in my radiator was low and I noticed a leak coming from my new Fulidyne Radiator. I am going to tighten the drain plug on it tomorrow and see if that fixes the problem. On my drive though I did notice that the idle was all over the place. At one point it was idling at like 2K rpm's. I also noticed a very distinct "whisling" sound (not the supercharger whine) but a high pitched whisling. I think it may be the accufab throttle body. Does anyone else's whisle? I think the idling problem I can adjust on the throttle body.

I will post pics soon. I can't wait to actually be able to get on it and feel the power. It felt strong...like it was just begging me to punch it.

Accufabs absolutely do not whistle. Now, were it a Mac, I might be weary. Did you double check to make sure all your vacuum lines were hooked up properly? That would account for the whistle and erratic idle.

Yeah, I double checked all of the vacuum lines and everything. When I get home tonight I will check again. If a vacuum line was loose or something would the car even be running? I did adjust the "adjustment bolt" on the throttle body in order to get the ohm reading correct on the TPS...I know, I know, I read afterwards that you are not supposed to do this. Do you think that could be causing this? I am thinking maybe I adjusted it too far and there the bolt is not letting the tb close all the way and it might be open just enough to cause air to flow through it which is causing the whisling...just a thought.

god i want a KB so bad but my wife wont let me have one. it drives me nuts cuz i read about it all the time on here! man why the hell does my wife have to do this to me!!

Keep working at it man...it took me 4 1/2 years to convince my wife that this was a good idea!
:D

Well, I talked to a KB tech this morning and I also called a local mustang tuning shop (who sell and install KB's) and they both said the high pitched whisling sounded like a vacuum leak. They both suggested to spray some carb cleaner all around and that will show where the leak is. They said if it is a leak, that would cause the idle issues too.

mine has the whistle and idles smooth as silk. i only hear the whistle when above 1000rpms. I am almost positive that it's not a vacuum leak.

my 7psi kit whistles all the time at idle, I thought it was always part of the deal. I think it sound tits anyways. As for the idle, did you take the air screen out of the intake. My idle coming to a stop sign will hold at about 1400rpms and then drop down to normal after a few seconds, annoying but part of the deal (my choice, figured it would be worth a couple ponies). Congrats by the way, one day I will have the intercooled version.

Cool, thanks guys!

Mrpositraction...yes, I left the screen in the MAF per Ken Christley's instructions. He said it smoothes out the airflow. Did Ken ever get your car set up correctly? Have you gotten back on the dyno yet?

I will post some pics tonight or tomorrow. And hopefully report back on my first experience going into boost!

Congrats

I also so have the 9psi kit on my 01 Cobra. I can hear it whistle between 1000 and 1800 RPMs.

My car started right up and idled better than when it was stock. I have the stock throttle body BTW
they make a 9PSI kit for us?

I have gotten everything worked out so the car feels much stronger. I have not gotten back on the dyno yet, I got a speeding ticket and have to take care of that before I can spend any more money else where. As for the first time under boost, hold on to your nipples, and then try, just try, to wipe the smile off your face, you will still be smiling tomorrow. Good luck man
