I recently finished my Tremec TKO conversion. I used a Ford Racing mini starter because with a 157 tooth flywheel the factory (c-6 trans) starter was hitting on the block/oilpan. Fits good, but when I start the car and the engine fires up there is a squeling sound. It goes away in 3-4 seconds. It sounds like the starter is not retracting immeditely when key goes back to accesory position and the engine is spinning it until it does. I have both wires for the starter attached to the starter side lug on the fender solenoid. Any suggestions on fixes or a better starter?

If the starter has a solenoid on it dont use the firewall solenoid or it will cause a delay. run the large hot wire direct from the battery to the ford mini starter solenoid.
then disconnect the ignition start wire and run it to the ford mini starter solenoid.
Use a fiber heat shield wire cover to protect the wires from heat, DONT use the shinny metal like wire heat cover or it will short out and burn your car up.
