starter wont disengage, and now wont start at all

I installed a mini starter from a 1995 mustang in my car about 500 miles ago. The starter was a new Duralast from autozone. Everything was going fine until I got gas and went to fire it up again and the starter wouldnt disengage until I pulled the negative cable. I put the negative cable back on and went to start it and all I heard was a click from the fender wall selinoid, I replaced that and still nothing. If I jump the starter with a screw driver it will it will will start but it wont disengage until I pull the cable. Any ideas? Maybe a bad starter?

Gabe, how did you wire the fender solenoid? It becomes a slave on the trigger side of the piggyback solenoid on your 95's starter (94-95 GT's use a SPST relay in the underhood fusebox to achieve the same thing). If this isnt wired properly, you can see an inductive feedback.

Here is the correct wiring for using a high torque mini starter from a 92 or later Mustang in a 86-91 Mustang

did youre car used to have a remote starter? mine did and i ran into the same problem and had to spend a great deal of time fiddleing with electronics. My friend accidently rewired some things back to the remote starter unit cuz he thought it was stock

I've had a similar issue with a stock starter and it turned out to be my ignition switch at the column.
