Ive been throwing around the idea of starting up a shop. With the hopes of eventually dealing with some name brand products (UPR, RACECRAFT inc, Trick Flow, etc..). Im thinking of starting to do side jobs while still in school and after graduation (MET, Purdue, Winter of '06) starting this up full time and taking a shot at making it bigtime. Anybody have any ideas of how to get started with a customer base and also setting up accounts with parts vendors? I know alot of people dont like dealing with the little guys but you have got to start somewhere. I think it would be beneficial to do both engine and chassis work. Also, if anyone's near Indianapolis and would like some work done, please contact me and maybe we can get something worked out.

Thanks,
Tom

Honestly, performance shops are hard pressed to make any real money. Very few out there are really making a profit, and most of those either have contracts and have been there for a while, many do regular maintence on regular cars as well.
