Okay, heres the lowdown. I have next to no under-hood knowledge with my GT, and I wanna change that. The only way to learn is through experience, right? So I've decided that I want to install the mods I get myself. Starting with simple stuff like CAI, midpipe, catback, pulleys, etc., and moving onto tougher stuff like springs, shocks, c/c plates, plugs, tb, maf, and so forth. What would you guys recommend for a basic startup kit to work on my car with? What kind of gear should I look into buying? How much will this stuff set me back?

Thanks a bunch stangers...

that is a very broad question. I would head to the local sears and have some fun in the Craftsman department. You should be able to pick up a decent tool set for around $100-$150. Make sure it has an assortment of 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" english and metric sockets, extensions, and a few wrenches.

That is a good starting point, and usually the smaller sets come in their own blow-molded case. As you get into things like springs, you'll need specialized tools which you can rent most of the time from auto zone (and get your money back when you take it back).
