Starting engine after storage.

I would definatly change the oil and then disconnect the plug to the injectors. then you can crank it over for a minute before starting it.

I've found that Ford did a good job with the clear-flood mode: simply floor the throttle, then start cranking and it won't inject fuel and thus won't start. Allows you to spin it on the starter before firing it up.

I do this after an oil and filter change: floor the throttle, crank it for about 10-seconds or so to get some oil back in the pump and then release the throttle and it fires right up, without all the typical bearing noises.

After 6 months of storage you shouldn't really have any issues. I'd also change the oil and burn through as much of the gas in the tank before filling it with fresh stuff. Did you put a fuel stabilizer in the tank before storing it? If not, you might want to put a can or two of injector cleaner in the first fresh tank...

My car has always started floored or not.

Weird. I can consistently mash the gas, turn the key and it will not start. If I'm still cranking and release the gas, it fires right up.

Mine's an 02 GT with what I believe is an MDE2-based tune. Might be MDE3 but I'm pretty sure it's MDE2. Maybe that's the difference.
