Starting to get discouraged by the ls1/lt1 talk...

The sooner you care less and less about your own cars, the happier you will be in life. Trust me on this, I used to argue about it all the time, and try and defend any and all cars. Now I simply mod/enjoy what I have, and let everyone else do the same.

BTW, I have fun with stock LS1 cars, the few times I have challeneged or been challenged by them. Two of my best races were with LS1s.

Fix.T just stop caring and you'll be fine

I think what he cares about is enjoying the win in the competition which we ALL share that desire.

Its about weight, driver and drivetrain. Depends on what they have done, and what you have done. Get heads, cam and intake along with a plethora of bolt ons and learn your car. Do some suspension work i.e. upper and lower control arms, sub fram connecters etc and you will be happy with launch. Lighten it up a bit if some of the creature comforts dont matter to you and voila, you have a potent combination that will win and lose some races.:nice:

And I agree, Fords make the best sound. I have had Ferrari, Mopar and GM guys all profess this to me. Its no secret :nice:

i had a 99 SS, and im sorry but are you really comparing interior quality of a fox to an SS? And im sorry but a true dual LS1 sounds ****in badass, just gotta get rid of the y pipe bull****. And i can see how working on a LSx series is difficult if you arent proficient with tools, no worse than a modular or big block though

I meant the plastic peices crack very easily and ALOT of rattles and things falling off, the 92 fox is solid. I had to have like 2 swivels and 3 extensions to change spark plugs, half the motor is under the dash. I love working on cars and been doing it for a while, just always hated that d*** camaro.

Huh? center console cracks, ashtray door fails, mirror motors go out, seats have the ghetto lean to them, center console breaks, and if my car wasnt so ****ing loud you'd here all the squeaks and rattles in that interior too. And i could change out plugs in under 2 hours so i dunno what method you were using but it was pretty straight forward for me. SS interior is far better IMO, maybe not better looking to some but not cheap either, at least when in comparison to a fox. But maybe its cause my car is a total piece of **** and a nicer one would be different.

Can of worms....more like a can of fire ants!!! LOL....but my buddy's 96 LT1 A4 with 3.73's, a cat-back and shiftkit runs 14.1's at 99MPH. Street tires, 2.1-2.2 60 ft.

Which would be roughly a 9.0 in the 1/8th. Sounds about right now given it's 15 years old. Every stockish 5.0 I've ever seen runs in the 14.7 to 15.3 range.

Right. His car is VERY consistent too. Here's the kicker....I got my buddies old 03 Mustang GT convertible in trade for my old Cobra. 27,000 miles, Mac Prochamber pipe, Flowmaster Cat-back, 4.10's, shifter which he ran 13.83@99-100MPH with 1.8 60ft's in trade for my old Cobra.

I raced my same buddy with his 96 LT1 T/A. He KILLED ME. 5 roll, 20 roll, dead stop....don't matter. I didn't stand a chance.

LT1's are good for low to mid 13's all day with just gears and exhaust.

I think that's why I have been thinking of getting rid of mine lately. I grew up with these cars but it wasn't until finally in the last three years could I afford to do one up. Now that I have I feel out of touch with current stuff and have the itch to do a modern engine swap into something.

Comparing a Fox 5.0 to an LT1/LS1, is about as fair as comparing an LS1/LT1 to the Ford GT...the Fox 5.0 was kicking tail from 86-93. It was walking the 305 auto TPI and keeping up with the manual 305 TPI. The only car that was showing its tail lights to the Fox were the 350 TPI IROCs and the Corvettes. The Corvette is in another league so even that is an unfair comparison. Keeping it real, the Fox has the aftermarket on its side and it's user friendly. The LT1/LS1 are indeed superior stock to stock but we buy cars for what we can do to them and the aftermarkets got the Mustangs back...

LOL, you've never done an H/C/I on an LS1 have you? Dont even need new heads, port the stockers, decent cam, and intake with some longtubes and you'll make more power N/A than what a 5.0 needs a power adder for

305 and 350TPI were still dogs. I don't think I've ever seen one of those ahead of any 5.0 Mustang. I think my 4x4 F150 would take out 305/350TPI cars.

5L5, you know you make a great point. anyone to walk around saying there 5.0 is the best there is, is ridiculous. these late 2000's cars are outstanding, and quite frankly I hate it.

man your right, foxes are total junk, you should sell your car to me for $1 and go buy an LT1 and go crraaaaazy fast all day and ill drive your pos foxbody that is ugly and cant compete with new cars

Good point. But those parts are gonna cost over 4G's and you're not installing those with the engine in the car. So if you don't have a garage, a car lift, a ton of tools, and some time on your hands you're gonna end up taking it to a shop. Most shops won't touch that kind of work and the ones that do are gonna charge at least 2 G's for the labor involved. Let's not forget the tuning. For that same 6 G's you can get a 351 stroked to 390 or 408 cubes with a top end kit, and headers. Most backyard mechs can handle that install in a couple days. And the Fox weighs a lot less than the Z28's...

while i have never worked on an ls1 f-body, i dont think its as hard as people say. i was told 103482387245 million times by people who had never done the work that you have to pull the cab to do head studs on a 6 liter diesel. the way to end it all is an ls1 stroked to a 408 put in a foxbody...

now I never said fox's were ugly. I love the look of the fox, especially my own. I'm not driving around in an lt1 because my last blew on me! I'll do what I can to stay away from GM just from my experience thus far.
